Club world cup squads need to be in early doors so might have a knock on for us with the domino effect being sooner than usual.

Hopefully we are prepped to take advantage if so.

Clubs, players(agents) will often wait as long as they can in the window before committing to a move in case a bigger club/bigger contract offer comes for them . It's the reason you see most of the action in the final day(s) of any window.

Goes without saying we need the business sorted out ASAP so players can get in and settled. A good preseason is crucial.

Likes of Scales absolutely cannot be seen as a viable option to start at CB. Would say the same for Taylor but we already have KT sorted.

I think we may lose a few players so assuming that happens we need another defensive CM, probably a couple of wingers at least with Jota being out and we may lose Kuhn if we get a decent offer.

Idah I would sell it for we managed to get half or money back and then look for another striker. Would love Kvistgaarden but I fear that ship has sailed.

Despite what I've said above, I fully expect to be on here arguing with the Lawell fan club on deadline day.

There's 0% chance we get 3 wingers and 3 midfielders mate. In fact I think we'll be lucky to get more than 1 midfielder, although we definitely need 2. Don't see us going for 2 CB's either.

For me, I think we'll get the following this summer.

    2x Winger
    ST
    CM
CB (We will get 2 if CCV leaves)
    LB if Taylor leaves

I would like another RB but don't see it whilst Ralston is here.

The above is assuming both Hatate and Kuhn leaves, which I think they will.

I think we could really use a CDM to help McGregor. As much as you hate to say it, that Raskin makes a massive difference for them, and it shows what having a good CDM can do.

Our first 11 is pretty good but they need help and a big of a refresh. KT will be a huge upgrade on Taylor. I would sign Schlupp if we can. For me though we need two key positions filled- a number 10 who can make things happen and a top class number 9. If Kuhn leaves then obviously a first choice winger as well with Jota's injury. If Kuhn doesn't leave then a winger with potential.

For me we need a couple of proper match winners/ difference makers in our side. Like that game yesterday see if you had a peak Kyogo, Dembele or Edouard I think we sneak a win from that game as they get a couple of goals out of the chances we got.

Maeda has been class this season and will continue to be great if he is still here but I am not confident he scores at the rate he has this season next again. Kuhn has also shown he couldn’t sustain his terrific rate for a full campaign. Idah wouldn’t do so either.

They will all get good to very good contributions but i would love at least someone else that would be pushing that 30 goal mark.

I also think we need someone doing an O’Riley type season in the middle of the park. We could also do with a real athlete in there to dominate the middle of the park.

At the other end if KT stays fit then we have the biggest upgrade we likely can make in one position. If we keep CCV and add another top centre back we have some team even if we lose a few.

A special mention for Sinasalo he could really establish himself as our go to number 1 next season.

edit: on the Matt O’Riley centre midfielder if there is any truth in the Brownhill rumour then he looks exactly that type, eye for a pass, cracking striker of a ball and great timing of runs in to the box. If you had him McGregor and an energetic ball winner box to box type, it could be a very good midfield 3.

Could KT play as the Left sided centre back? It might help manage his body and get more games out of him.???

Hopefully, it will all depend on what Rodgers decides he needs. Rather buy just 3 players that Rodgers will use, than 6 he'll grumble about as being foisted upon him. We want a CDM, and with good reason, but if he doesn't want one, I'd rather not see another Lagerbielke case.

Not saying that's what we get but this thread is hypothetical anyway.

With Jota out we now need 3 wingers. Needed two before as Yang and Forrest need phased out.

Hatate will leave. I'd say we need another 2 mids even with him, one being CDM. So that's where the 3 comes from.

I think the squad needs quite a decent refresh tbh. Huns won't be as poor next year and we should always be striving to evolve.

    Schmeichel
    Sinisalo

    Johnston
    Ralston

    CCV
    Trusty
    New CB
    New CB
    Scales

    Tierney
    New LB
Schlupp (if he reduces his wage I'd sign him to cover 3 positions but not a necessity)

    McGregor
    Engels
    Bernardo
    McCowan
    New CDM
New creative CM to replace Hatate

    New RW to replace Kuhn
    Forrest

    Maeda
    Jota
New LW to cover Jota and right wing

    Idah
    New ST
    New project ST

25/26 man squad. That'd be my ideal going into next year. Potentially even punting Scales and using the 25th position for the midfield or the attacking areas.

So, so much work needs done. As usual, I’m sure we’ll end the window wishing we’d done more.

At the very least we need a right back, two centre backs and a left back. Two midfielders. A striker and two wingers.

    That’s pretty much essential.

For those who are in love.....
A starting left sided centre half/Trusty
A capable backup to Carter-Vickers on the right
I'd like a capable challenge for Tierney but doubt we will and Taylor probably signs on
We need at least a couple different types of midfielders in the middle of quality and with some sort of physicality/tenacity and athleticism
A right winger whether Kuhn goes or no
A left winger with the news Jota's out
    A definite striker

    That's about 7 in realistically

I'm hoping we move on Scales, Taylor, Nawrocki, Lagerbielke, Beranardo, Palma, Idah, Kenny..

    Can't see all those going
Think those that will go will likely be
Trusty over Scales looking more likely
    Kuhn
    Hatate

Out of the list above Idah, Bernardo, Taylor probably won't go anywhere..

Keeping Maeda and CCV would be a huge bonus.

I would just hope for once we do our main business well early! So that players are here for pre-season and champ lg qualifiers. Also no major players being sold till max middle of August.

Aye I don't disagree mate, it's a very important window all things considered. Investment for them aside, it's unlikely they'll drop as many points next season, let alone another 8 points to St Mirren.

The bare minimum should be a LB, two CB, a CM, two wingers (i can take one of them being a loan) and a ST, with Tierney coming back. Anything less is poor for us. I expect Kuhn, Hatate and one of CCV/Johnston/Maeda to leave as well, with Taylor up in the air.

I'd love for us to add a CDM and a RB, but I don't see it unfortunately. A third winger would depend on Tilio, Palma and Yang leaving, but I think we'll likely go with two, one as a Kuhn replacement and one to replace Jota, with Maeda rotating there too.

I've said this before too, that we could play Tierney at left centre back if needed, where he has performed very well before for Scotland under Steve Clarke. And as you say, may extend his playing career more and protect his body.

We would also have Scales and Taylor ( if he stays ) to cover at left back.

I think it is worth considering.

    KT, will play LB..

He has only played LCB for Scotland as part of a back 3/5 .. so unless we change formation drastically we won't see him as a CB..

We may revert to a 4-2-3-1 for better midfield balance and would suit KT too, who doesn't really invert.

We won't sign two CBs unless we can offload Nawrocki, Lagerbielke and Welsh.

We have CCV, Trusty, Scales and Murray is rated.

Unless, we sell CCV, which would be a massive blow, but if not, we'll likely not strengthen there.
