They'll hold out for that 12m if that's what they really want. They know we have that money and want him

If they aren't budging after now a third offer, time to just play ball with them.

Yet another rinsing because clubs know our situation.

It is understood the Bundesliga club are still holding out for more money, but negotiations continue.

If a deal gets done, it will likely be a record transfer outlay for Celtic.

Their current record is £9m to PSG for Odsonne Edouard in 2018.

Striker Adam Idah’s move from Norwich to Celtic was an initial fee of £8.5, which could rise to £9.5m

 

We won't go any higher i think than that

 

At this point it seems things are close enough that hopefully this gets done. The quicker the better obviously.

 

Could see add ons bridging the rest of the gap possibly.

 

It would be stupid to miss out on him over a couple million

 

Think they'd take Holm or Yang on loan

They can string us along given they know how desperate we are.. would take Engels to push a move which isn't likely to happen this late.

 

Just pay up or look for someone else in that price bracket if we aren’t going any further. Surely we would have alternatives?

 

Give them Yang and we’ll need to pay them £15m for Engels

 

Holm is a good shout. Give them another midfield option to help fill the Engles shaped hole

Celtic are making an improved offer of £9m for Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels.

It’s understood the Bundesliga club rejected Celtic’s first offer of £6.5m and are not keen to sell the 20-year-old in this window.

However, it’s believed the Scottish champions are pushing for a deal with Brendan Rodgers very keen to bring Engels to Glasgow, following Matt O’Riley’s departure to Brighton.

It’s believed Engels wants to move to Celtic, with the lure of the Champions League.

Sky Germany understands that Augsburg value the player between £11m-£12.6m, with negotiations ongoing between the two clubs
