maybe true Doc but you surely cant tell me there isnt a LB out there better than Lee Naylor within our budget.

You just need to look at the money list. Clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle are already well above us even though they have no global fan base or international appeal. And others such as Aston Villa are not far behind.

He has already signed two players that won't go straight into the team

As for wages etc I agree that they are going up and becoming silly. We could go on all day and night about supply and demand, market forces but it means little. The reason it means little is that regardless of who demands what or who costs what the Celtic board are a law into themselves. As far as I can see as a layperson there is no reason why the club cannot stump up for certain players. They just do not want to.......

Can't argue with that. He seems to have been hoping that Naylor will play his way into form for the last 2 years.

That's just a guess. It's always been fashionable for Celtic fans to blame the people running the club for all our ills and in years gone by that was 100% correct, but I honestly believe that we are so handicapped by the league we play in that the current board are doing a decent job.

he just seems blind to the fact he's a very poor player. he just has to ask Boruc how good Naylor is, at least he can see he's gash.

worryingly it is starting to look like we'r developing the same problem at RB too.

heard a hun on the radio tonight begging wattie to play beasley not because he's agood player but simply because he'll rip hinkle apart with his pace alone and he's right.

i really dread to think what it's gonna be like watching our full backs take on Ronaldo and Tevez there is a real chance we could get embarrassed this year

How did you get that consenus of the majority of fans in between matches? You've jumped to a conclusion.

GS hands Lawwell his wishlist in the order he wants them, like any manager to their Chief Executive and he goes fishing. Lawwell knows his numbers and offers accordingly, he doesnt want to break the bank for players that demand too much or clubs that want to rip us off. He doesnt bend to them and we'll be the better club for it.

Strachan may be frustrated but this has happened to us/him before in previous seasons, he'll do the best with what he has, the true sign of a good manager, and he's gotten 3 SPL's with that approach.

The board are there to make sure that Celtic runs its best as a business, that doesnt mean that they'll neglect the team or the managers wishes, they'll do there best given the circumstances. Our board over the last couple of seasons have proved themselves exceptional. Its frustrating for them knowing that they couldnt get who they wanted because if they did it means that we would operate better as a business.

Some good points mate a agree with some, i personally think the spending is over my self, unless they go for appiah who is on a free, i cant see them buying anybody else for the simple reason they know this current squad can win the league:50: mccourt is just a prospect who could turn out to be good, you say about the left back but a think naylor is beter at left back n what hinkel is at right, wee aw know for a fact he will go with caldwell because he likes goin with experience, because a remember him goin on aboot some players mking there old firm debuts wen they beat us alast year, so he,l go wae lover boy,,, a personally think he should start with

telfer was better player than wilson, naylor or hinkle he actually knew what a full backs job was. somebody wants to tell hinkle he's not a centre half, why does he persist in standing next to cladwell in the middle?

Never heard anyone say that whilst he was at Celtic. You are just saying it to make a point.

Untrue, Telfer used to overlap Nakamura to draw players away from Naka so he had the space to weave some magic. He did that like clockwork for Naka even though most of the time, he never got the ball on the overlap.

Wilson was brilliant at LB in his first 6 months here, everyone commended him, I bet he'll do a good job there this season if played there.

The supporters always need a whipping boy, it's becoming a bit of a tradition. Someone to vent their frustration towards if the team is struggling.

Telfer was one, we had Agathe before him, and now we have Naylor and Hinkel.

I think Naylor has the ability, he proved that in his first season, but he doesn't look like he's enjoying his football. Could there be factors off the field causing him trouble?
