Think he misses a second option when he looks up in Jota. Also the overload of FB's centrally for short sharp passes.
Style limits his risky passing massively and it looks rank rotten when it doesn't come off.

Frustrating as he's been recently you've got to hope it clicks again for him. Am no a fan of continuing to play players out of form or not fully committed, taking game time away from the likes of Holm and Bernardo. But Hatate is too good to just give up on.

Still reserve the right to give him pelters at the drop of a hat right enough.

Grand old team to play for
He did well on Saturday. Won and scored the penalty that got us in front. Then helped us control the game when we were a man down for 60 mins. And he's just back from injury FFS.

He was good on Saturday. Not at his best by any means, but it wasn’t a bad performance.

It's not a case of it clicking for him. He's a modern day footballer who if doesn't get what he wants, * take the foot of the gas and not preform to the max of his ability. I definitely see him sold at the end of the season.

Looks so unfit and lethargic. Had a horrible start to the game, gave it away and didn’t seem capable of getting back behind the ball. He’s been out injured and trying to get acquainted with a different system so hopefully improves really quickly.

Brendan Rodgers insists he is not aware of how close Reo Hatate is to signing a new contract at Celtic.

Earlier this week reports emerged suggesting that the Japanese midfielder was on the verge of agreeing to a long-term deal.

It's believed that Celtic officials have been in negotiations with the Japan international and his representatives for some time.

His teammates Kyogo, Daizen Maeda, Callum McGregor and Liel Abada all agreed to new contracts under Brendan Rodgers this summer.

The boss is hopeful Hatate will join them but admits he is not sure how long it may take before an announcement is made.

In his pre-Motherwell press conference, asked about the reports regarding Hatate, he said: "I haven't been made aware of that.

"I'll speak to Michael (Nicholson) later but in fairness to the club, the club has been reaching out to the agent for quite some time. But where it's at, I don't know at this point."

That penalty was pathetic, so lucky it squeezed in.
Keep harping on but, how poor are we, in general with all set pieces?
It seems to me, a set piece coach has been badly wanting for years.

Celtic Football Club are delighted to announce that Reo Hatate has signed a new five-year deal which will see him remain at the club until 2028.

The 25-year-old midfielder has become a fans’ favourite since joining from J-League side, Kawasaki Frontale, back at the start of 20222, and he becomes the latest player in Brendan Rodgers’ squad to commit his future to Celtic.

Hatate, who has now been capped three times by the Japanese national side, has made 71 appearances for the Hoops, scoring 14 goals, the most recent coming from the penalty spot last weekend in the 3-0 win over Livingston.

He made his debut in a 2-0 win over Hibernian at Celtic Park back in January 2022, and scored his first goal for the club in his next game – a 2-1 win over Hearts at Tynecastle.

And in his fourth appearance for the Hoops, he showed his quality with two goals in a 3-0 Glasgow derby victory at Paradise.

He has won four trophies so far for Celtic, including last season’s historic Treble, and is aiming to bring further success to the club in the years ahead.

Speaking exclusively to the Celtic website, Reo Hatate said: “I am delighted to agree this new contract with Celtic and commit my future to the Club.

'I love playing for Celtic in front of the best fans around and I hope we can have more and more success together.'

“We have a lot of challenges ahead of us this season and beyond, both in Scotland and in the Champions League, and we are all ready as a team to tackle these together. We will give everything we have to bring our fans more good times.

“I have had the best welcome ever since I joined the club and I want to thank all our fans for the great support they continue to give to us all.”

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: “I am delighted that Reo has agreed this new contract. It is great news for both Reo himself and for the team and the Club.

“I have had some great discussions with him in recent weeks, I know he loves the club and our supporters and how ambitious he is to bring more success to the club.

'Reo has already shown us what a talent he is, making a great contribution to the team since he has joined Celtic.'

“He is a huge talent, an exciting young player with great attributes and someone who can change a game.

“I know he is the type of man and player, though, who doesn’t want to rest. He is hungry to improve every day and achieve more and more to be the very best he can be – and Celtic is a great place for him to do this.

“We go forward now together with real confidence and I really look forward to continuing our work with him and the rest of the squad as we face all our challenges ahead.”

Yeah I think it's time we stop reading too much into his body language and assuming he doesn't want to be here.
Great news and well done to the club for getting it done.
