Celtic FC Women are delighted to announce that Caitlin Hayes has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal, extending her stay at Paradise until at least the summer of 2026.

Since joining the club back in 2020, the lifelong Celtic supporter has become a favourite with the fans, thanks to her strong, all-round performances in defence and her goalscoring ability in the opposition box, as well as her obvious love of the green and white Hoops.

Last season, she helped the Celts achieve a cup double, scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 League Cup final victory over Glasgow City at Firhill.

Following another impressive season in the Hoops, the English defender recently picked up a trio of personal awards, winning Celtic’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year, as well as being voted the best performer in the country by her fellow professionals.

Alongside her contributions in Celtic's solid defensive backline, Caitlin Hayes has scored a number of important goals this season, including three strikes in four games against Rangers and a crucial stoppage-time winner against Partick Thistle earlier this month.

Signing a new extension is a dream come true for the player, and reacting to the news she told the official Celtic website: “I feel elated to have signed a new deal!

“I am super proud to put pen to paper at this club, and to secure my future here.

“It’s a proud day for me and my family. This whole year has been a dream come true, and it just keeps getting better and better.

'I owe my team-mates everything! From the players to the coaching staff, they have made me look good a lot of the time!'

“I am very thankful for all they have done, not just as players but as people and I just feel like there is always the initiative to be better at this club. It’s an environment I thrive under and I am super excited for the future.”

Hayes and her team-mates will be aiming to round off what has already been an impressive season with more silverware.

That starts this Sunday when they take on Hearts in the final fixture of SWPL league campaign at Celtic Park, with the Hoops still having the chance to win the title, before a Scottish Cup final at Hampden the following weekend.

And the Celtic defender is looking forward to playing at Paradise once again, with all still to play for at the top of the league.

“We couldn’t be looking forward to Sunday’s game more,” she said.

'Playing at Celtic Park, with the Celtic supporters – there’s not really much you could dream of that would be better.'

"It’s going to be a big day. We aren’t going to play the occasion, and we won’t be overwhelmed by it.

“We are fully focused on the job at hand, which is getting the three points. Then we’ll look up and see where we are at the end of the game and what will be, will be.”
