I live in Glasgow now but back down home in the borders, there are more Huns than Tims but it just depends on the area, I mean a place like Langholm is quite even but somewhere like Annan is much more Hun territory

As far as i can tell its a cultural thing as much as anything in the Western Isles, (Lewis and Harris) Sevconians as we all know for the most part are drawn from Unionist Protestant tradition. Celtic are seen in some quarters as outsiders up here because of that and that does tend to influence who it is they decide to cheer for. This has always puzzled me because its the last bastion of the Gaelic speaking culture up here and you would have thought that most would lean towards the hoops but they don't its the darkside more often than not.:38: Celtic are seen by some as the Irish team from the (other) Tradition and that is a factor rightly or wrongly. Celtic should do more to re-address this false perception and tap into our shared Celtic heritage and culture, seeing all the muns waving their onion jacks about certainly has never appealed to me on any level.:shamrock:

    I'm from Dundee.

Lochee (in Dundee) is a Celtic area due to the huge numbers of Irish Catholics who went there to work in the jute mills in the 19th century. There are a couple of supporters buses leave from there. (Charleston, where I grew up, is a scheme that was built next to Lochee to ease overcrowding and is also full of Tims.)

The Hilltown (in Dundee) also had a strong Irish Catholic community who came to find work in the jute industry. The Dundee Celtic Travel Club (1948 to present) ran a bus from premises there for decades - they're based not far from the Hilltown now - and the Dundee Emerald bus leaves from the Hilltown.

Both sides of my mother's family came from Ireland (Belfast and Galway) to Dundee.

There are Sevconians in Dundee, and there's the Dundee Loyal supporters bus, but the fact that there's only one Sevco bus and 4 Celtic buses would suggest that there are a lot more Tims - which isn't surprising given that Dundee had the highest amount of Irish immigrants for head of population in Scotland, possibly the UK?

My father's side came from Donegal, and ended up settling in a village in Perthshire called Muthill. Lots of people from Donegal settled there, earning Muthill the nickname "Little Ireland," and to this day that wee village is packed with Celtic supporters.

Historically, although the Irish and their descendents were our most natural fanbase, we also attracted support beyond that community for various reasons: our story and our style of football being examples. Whereas Oldco predominantly drew support from yer more hardcore Scottish Protestant because they (Oldco) had set their stall out as the Anti-Celtic.

In a changing society, that eventually proved limiting and problematic for them, and they had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 18th century in the late 20th century.

In Scotland, I'd say they have more fans, but there is probably still less diversity in the Ibrox stands. Beyond Scotland, it's probably us.

Further down the line, though, who knows? I can see a lot of Scottish kids growing up to follow Man U, Barca etc., rather than us or Newco.

I've been in Inverness for about 8 months. It's seems (to my eye) about 60/40 huns here. In London, there were far more Celts than huns due to Irish immigration; however, the demographic's changed a lot now, so there's a lot less Irish around.

Whenever I go back to visit the family in Coatbridge I've noticed a lot more orcs stoating about, breaks my heart and wouldn't have been allowed when I was a nipper.

    Hahaha
I actually thought someone would mention that, mate.

A Celtic fan on Facebook had been asking Tim/Sevco ratio in some Highland town he's going to be visiting soon.

I Googled it ... and it's brought me here ☺️

Totally agree with this, mate, but I also think that when we're struggling it tends to be the Glasgow based Celtic fans who actually don't bother turning up.

In the early 90s, when Celtic Park was around a third full, the supporters buses from Dundee were always full and never stopped running. And I suspect that was the case throughout Scotland and Ireland.

Our hardcore support travel far and wide.

Its the same as Airdrie being completely full of huns, both town are 50/50, Coatbridge is seen to be a republican town just due to the st paddy’s celebrations but its a complete myth as they have hosted orange walks for years now and have a good few hun buses leaving from the town just as Airdrie has just as many CSC buses leaving as huns do.

Rutherglen is full of huns and most of the pubs apart from the Vogue are hun shops - especially the Quarry Bar
