With the injuries Feyenoord currently have, I'd say we have a good chance of beating them next week.

We'll be without CCV and Abada but Hatate will be back, Johnston fully fit and Bernardo/Palma fully fit and ready to play.

Under BR we had our heaviest defeats in Europe so every point will be a bonus. Hopefully we can be in the Europa League after Christmas with a couple of favourable draws after that

I'm gonna get all sorts of grief and I truly hope I'm wrong and I do get grief down the line but at the moment we are just not ready for the Champions league.

We are still sorting out our defence and also not sure of how our midfield needs to look.

I fear for us in the first few games.

I'll be very happy with the third spot and European football in spring.

    Same.....3rd spot would be good.

Its gonna be difficult imo even getting that....Unless we really surprise everyone.

Im hoping underdogs and all that and we can really get points we dont expect.

We should be aiming for 5-7. Can't see us getting more than that, and even reaching it will be a struggle - but you have to go in thinking it's achievable.

You would imagine 5 points would be enough for third place, which I would be delighted with. Think we could win a couple of ties in the Europa with a settled team a couple of good signings in January - the difficult part will be getting third!

A lot of this hinges on how pragmatic Rodgers is willing to be. I think/hope he has learned from his first spell here. If we sit deeper than usual and keep it tight, we can be competitive.

Fun fact: Even including his time at Liverpool, BR has won just 2 of his 18 CL group games in total. Let's hope guiding Leicester to the Conference SF a couple of seasons ago will have learned something from that.

Our issue is that missing CCV is a big crack in our defence. Scales and Lagerbielke held firm in their biggest test of the season against Rangers. However, let's be honest, Rangers are a dreadful team of donkeys, wimps and frauds. At Champions League level, these teams all have good technical ability and athleticism. It may just be too much for what we have currently in defence

I still think the CL is broken. It's interesting to see a lot of people argue that we should be able to compete because we don't have one of the megateams in our group; but from my point of view, Atletico Madrid are a bigger club than most realise and play in the second best league in the world (until 4 or 5 years ago, the best league IMO). Lazio play in the 4th best league in the world (remember, they had a team in the final and 2 in the semis last year). Feyenoord are a very big club and while the Dutch league might not be the greatest, it's light years ahead of ours.

We have to be realistic here: 3rd would be a spectacular success if we can get it.

You are going into it with no confidence really since we aren't really playing well and we don't know much about most of the new signings and things haven't really gelled and we're missing big players.

Could win the group, could end up pointless.

Just a win would be fantastic. Genuinely.

Last one was Anderlecht 6 years ago.

Last home win was Ajax 10 years ago.

The first isn't going to happen. :56::56::56::56::56:

I think we can safely call that now.

It's the kind of Group 10 or 11 points might top the Group though.

As in you wouldn't be surprised if Atletico or Lazio only won half their games or even if they didn't win half. Usually we have a Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona, PSG who you know are going to win the Group, theres no doubt and they could get 15 points without even playing well.

The teams aren't great and no one is guarenteed anything.

Aye this is a tricky one..

Sometimes it's good to have that side who'll smash everybody and you can bank on....but thus group is hard to call who will run away with it..

Atletico will be favourites but I think they'll drop a fair few points..

The earlier we can get something on the board, the more it puts pressure on others..

Mate, we've never won our CL group. Even back when the gap between the leagues was smaller and we had better players. It's certainly not happening now, in the current climate. 1st is not happening. 2nd is the stretch goal if we get really lucky and/or play at a level I've not seen any sign of yet, 3rd would be a big success and just avoiding zero points is the minimum goal but far from a given.

To be fair we've never had a Group where the best team were as "weak" as this. Usually the best team in our Group have multiple world class players.

Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Iniesta, Alves or Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani, Verratti and Thiago Silva or Benzema, Vinicius, Modric, Kroos or Aguero, Silva, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Toure or Lewandowski, Muller, Robben, Kimmich, Thiago etc. Those old AC Milan and Man Utd teams of the late 2000s caked in quality.

Im hardly * myself at Morata, Memphis and Griezmann and they've got the best players in our Group.

Just looking actually and last season Atletico won 1 out of 6 in the Group, season before they won 2/6, season before they won 2/6 and season before that they won 3/6.

Aren't you? Can you imagine the reaction on here if we'd signed one of them this summer?

In the huge gulf between the absolute elite players you listed and our players, there is more than enough room for very good players like these 3 who are more than capable of giving me the fear even if not you.

Doesn't mean they're going to beat everybody. They got 2 points off Leverkusen and Club Brugge last season in their Group and Leverkusen were 5th in Germany and Brugge were 4th in Belgium.

They are a good team but I wouldn't be surprised if they finished bottom of the Group either, they're not sensational and going to pump everyone like Man City, Real Madrid or maybe Bayern would.

To me this is a group anything could happen, Lazio could be bottom or top, Atletico, one of the teams might win every game nobody should be that worried about playing anyone else.

Where is this confidence coming from? We got two points last year with better players than we have available this week. When was the last time we won a game at this level? It's been over a decade now since we last got second. We've literally never got first. Yes, these are teams we should aspire to be peers with; but we aren't there yet and we're still in an injury crisis on top of that. It's ludicrous to talk about winning the group except as a joke.

Let's look at it a different way:

Do you think we are playing well at the moment?

Do you think the gap between us and Rangers is big? I know we'll be considerably better than them in a few weeks, but on current form, do you think there's a big gap right now?

Do you think Rangers should have been worried about facing PSV in the Netherlands?

All the other teams will take points off each other so just need to make sure we are in the mix and don't end up adrift at the bottom.
