Reo Hatate

Reo Hatate has insisted he’s happy at Celtic and relishing the chance to have a proper crack at the Champions League next season.

The Hoops midfielder, nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award, has been linked with a move to Brighton and having missed out on Celtic’s aftermatch title celebrations on Sunday, online rumours about joining his mate Kaoru Mitoma at The Amex grew arms and legs. But Hatate is adamant he won’t be heading south and asked about the social media frenzy that followed his omission from the title party photographs at Celtic Parkon Sunday night, he said: “Well, they can leave me alone, maybe? It’s not a big deal



People are reading too much into it. I had my personal things so I had to be away from the team. But that’s all, nothing else. I wasn’t at the Brighton game – I watched it on the television in my house. The main thing is that I play for Celtic. This is where I am and I am focusing on the rest of the games.




The 25-year-old is also itching to get back into Champions League action next term after admitting that Celtic didn’t do themselves justice this season.

He added: “As a team, we have proved a lot in domestic games, but we didn’t get any wins in the Champions League and that’s quite disappointing. Overall, we did well but we have to improve



After the six games in the Champions League group, personally I think the other teams had better qualities in terms of technique and they finish when they get chances to score. But at the same time we kept the ball well. We think we can do at the same level, so if we can improve our technique and if we can finish better than this season then I think we can compete next season.



That would be a great thing for my career to try to impress the other teams. But then at the same time they are tough games in the Champions League so I don’t think I can play (well) in every game. There will be good and bad of course. All I can do is prepare and try and do my best.

 

I believe if both reo and abada don't extend they will be off, both probably happy at the club and more happy to run down the contract possibly .

He doesnt replace anybody he was brought in for extra depth and Ange has already hinted at playing him in a double pivot in the Champions League with Mcgregor. It's not rocket science. Mcgregor can't play every single game.

Not every player is signed to replace someone.

 

I don’t read much into him not being there to be honest. Hatate has always come across a bit weird. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with that. Just leave him alone and let him play football.

 

I'm praying we keep both who are absolute game changers , maybe the rumours about abadas contract extension not being signed was bs which would be no surprise to me ,It just seemed there was a change in him recently after hearing he didn't sign it and reo should be with teammates while celebrating 100% although he did say personal reasons which you have to believe I guess.

 

Would love both to stay but think Abada wants out

These players are only interested in a move to a top 5 European league which is totally understandable. I would be delighted if we could get Hatate for one more season. He’d be off to the PL if any team there offered a decent fee though this summer. Hopefully we hold out though and he has a decent CL campaign and we can get more next summer.

Hope he stays, class class class, but if he wants to go, he will. It's all up to him, and he earned that right himself.
Would command a fee over £15M, possibly toward £25M with add-ons.

Would love to know how many nutmegs he has this season.

 

Hopefully he stays but should he go then I hope we get top dollar for him as he is a special talent and we can be grateful for his performances for the hoops.

 

Seems like we will get at least one more year with Hatate. Would love him to stay longer but he is 25 now so his next contract is most likely the peak one for him from a career standpoint financially so we will be doing very well to keep him beyond next season.

Hink the wee man might have something personal.going on in the back ground the term leave me alone is very seldom heard from footballers especially ones who have just won a treble just hope it works out for him in the end we are all human

Also, Japanese people are very private. My Japanese girlfriend didn't tell anyone at work about me as over there offices are very different..plus I was a foreigner lol
