Stadia confirmed, think 5 countries is too many myself. Means 19/24 spots available so top from each group qualifies and 9 best runners up or another system like 5 best runners up and other 5 plus nations league teams go for it.

England obviously knew they couldn't win by themselves but am just surprised they didn't do England, Scotland and Wales and use Murrayfield and another Welsh stadium plus 6 English ones.

Murryfield, Celtic Park and Iboaks, think there was another Scottish stadium all applied but the SFA deemed Hampden would be the sole bidder. Why share 30 million with other Scottish clubs when you can give Hampden a lick of paint and pocket the rest?

Think it'll be class but Hampden is so poor a stadium for us to put forward.

Essentially that's what has happened, they could have the chance to do some great stuff to it but I imagine they will do * all.

If they put the money towards getting both ends shortened so the fans are closer to the pitch I'd be all for it, but everyone knows that's not going to happen. It'll be paint, a couple of new seats and tart up the outside with some posters. But the SFA will spin it being FANTASTIC for the game and country.

Never wished a stadium to burn down as much as I wish Hampden to. Been to a fair few cup finals always say after the euphoria has ended that I'll never go back to that stadium, but always end up forgetting how bad it is.

Imagine underground car park will be their main reason to go for Hampden, £30M wont go far in that shithole unfortunately.

If this bid is successful it will mean the British government are buying the GAA a stadium and one named after an Irish Patriot that they hung for treason

Hope Celtic tell SFA to F off concerning any future tv deals in SPL for not including Celtic Park in the deal

Scotland had one ground, it was always going to be the one owned by the SFA. If it wasn't Hampden I would have said Murrayfield anyway. If Celtic Park or Ibrox had been picked one group would have moaned.

Hampden is a * hole. If celtic Park were to get it instead. Better surrounding area etc. Hampden is a total dump.

Am i right in saying that even though its a joint bid, Scotland still are not guaranteed a place? SFA for you.

Apparently so, it depends on what UEFA want to give. SFA don't care about the national team, they want the money for their stadium. I think Northern Ireland are the same, they will get a stadium heavily funded from this. The bid would have suited 2032 better as apparently that will have 32 teams and 5 auto qualifying isn't really an issue.

Wales only has 2 stadium that fit the criteria, Northern Ireland has none, Scotland has 4 but 3 are in the same city, Republic of Ireland has 2. The current bid has 8 stadiums that are there, so leaves room for back up and Everton has started work. That number requires 4 to be built or heavily refurbished. Maximum is 3 with under 40k too 1 of Wales' current ones is already less than that, Northern Ireland's planned one is under that.
In theory it would be the right amount I agree, but the infrastructure in place isn't really there for it.
