Came across this quote earlier - “On arrival at United, he seemed a bit of a cult figure with our players. They would say his name in awed tones,” Ferguson wrote about Larsson in his second autobiography.

Not literally obviously but not far off.

Btw we all look back on his goals for us...but his link up play was just as phenomenal! Guy had eyes on the back of his head!

He got 20 odd assists almost every year for us in his prime. * outrageous.

I watched back the treble season recap a wee while back and he was involved in almost every goal. A truly world class player.

Also, Lubo was a freak :giggle1:

The good old days when our nations game was only 4 odd years off of the finances that England had now we are thirty years behind …. Tv deal we have basically what the English had back in 97/98

I had a debate with a friend about lubo , and he argued nakamura was the better player , for me it was close but lubo was on another level completely and it showed every game , just amazed how he wasn't noticed by " bigger " clubs before we bought him.

What Naka could do with his left peg Lubo could do with both feet

His unselfishness and willingness to work for the team were unbelievable.

His finishing and link up play is what he’s mainly remembered for, but he was also a very physical and aggressive player.

He was the complete striker for me.

I still remember sitting with my auld granda when Henrik came off the bench against Hibs in his first game.

Now my granda saw Jimmy McGrory's last game in 1938. And he watched Celtic right through since then. And he's words were "I dunno where they get these players from, that boy'll never be a Celtic player". His first action as a Celtic player was gifting the ball to Chick Charnley who scored from about 30 yards.

He was the full package and his career after us proved that.

Mortifying the media and the huns even attempted to compare Kris Boyd with him.

He's the best striker in history in my opinion.

We will never have a player of his standard play with us again in my opinion.

To think he spent 7 years of his career with us is utterly incredible. He could have walked out to sign with a massive European club long before he went to Barcelona. You dont get commitment like that from players of his calibre in the modern game. I dont think we'll ever have a player as good as Henrik at Celtic again, and if we do it'll certainly not be for as long as 7 years

I presume your friend was a tad too young to see lubo?

Nakamura is a sensational player, amazing freekicks. But no one is ever legit arguing he is better than lubo.

That said, many did wonder how Nakamura would have played in the ten/middle as lubo did.

Imagine Nakamura, lubo and Jota all supporting Larsson!!!!

I know Nakamura mostly played RM for us in a 442 but didn't he have a lot of freedom to drift in behind the strikers?

Not really, we did it for the last 8 games to win us 8 in a row when we had Hartley/Robson in there protecting him. Other than that Strachan’s team was very nailed on stay in your lane. Wingers as wingers
