Best passer of a ball in the team. McGregor is very neat and tidy with the ball and rarely gives it away, but in terms of executing difficult defence splitting passes, Mooy is streets ahead of everyone we have. Unreal at the minute.

You are right in saying that they are too different, but you can still make an overall judgement.

Mooy is doing exactly what I expected him to do and is bossing the SPL. Him winning all these MoM awards is really no surprise to me.

Got to be a contender for POTY now that he has started adding goals to his game.

The earlier pages of this thread are hilarious. As bad as the Ange thread.

The * that some of you gave to Mr Cleansheets in particular was insane. I mean, I like annoying Mr Cleansheets as much as the next person. I thought his praise of Postecoglou went overboard; after all, Ange might have failed, particularly in those first three months.

Mooy was never going to fail. He was a surer bet than Postecoglou in this league. And some of you still thought, until a couple of weeks ago, he was "OK as a squad member".

His ability to take the ball on the turn under pressure and just play it in behind us brilliant

You can't deny he wasn't slower than a snail. Yes it could've been because he was overweight and played in China for a while. The early pages where correct in what was seen on the pitch. Slowest player on planet earth. If you look at him now and compare, he is still noticeably slower than anyone without a zimmer frame but he's alot leaner, fitter and that extra millisecond gained in his sexy saunter has allowed him to become a very good sqaud player.

I wasn’t up or down about signing Mooy as he was on a free, so the risk was virtually zilch. The issue I had at the time was that I felt we should be prioritising a defensive midfielder. Mooy hasn’t solved that problem to be fair, which I recall some saying he would play there. Hopefully Iwata is the answer, because in terms of Europe, we still badly need one.

Giving myself a pat on the back for this, despite pretty much writing him off after his first few games :giggle1:

On a serious note, I do think he could be a massive difference maker for us at that level next season (if we make it)

Some of his comments were still way OTT, let's be honest.

Putting aside Jedinak in the Australian team, I don't think Ange ball uses a traditional DM.

And as I said at the time, it will be to the detriment in Europe, as it proved to be. A lot of the goals we lost in Europe came from being countered. Something an out and out defensive midfielder is in to try and prevent.

He could play any position in the middle of the park for us. Such a clever player.
