He said we’re relaxed as we’ve brought in three players and we’ll assess each situation if any offers come in but he never said anything about business being done

Ahead of the January transfer window, Ange Postecoglou has hinted that his Celtic transfer business could already be over.

The Hoops have already added Alistair Johnston, Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata ahead of the new year and are reportedly still on the look out for a new striker.

Star performers Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis are attracting interest, but Postecoglou insists the club have received no offers.

He said: “I’m really pleased with the three boys we have brought in. That was probably our priority at this stage.

“But the transfer window hasn’t even opened yet so, what we have got to obviously be aware of is, there might be departures as well.

“So I guess the pleasing thing from my perspective is that we are in a good position now with three incomings, so whatever happens we can make decisions that are best for the football club.

“We will see what January brings. My view on these things is that if a good opportunity comes up that will make us stronger, and it makes sense for us, then we will move on it.

“There is no great urgency now because of the business we have already done.”

We told this morning how Italian club Monza are plotting a sensational swoop for Juranovic.

The Croatian right back became a World Cup star after a string of outstanding performances in Qatar as he helped his country reach the semi-finals and eventually finish in third place.

That's led to a host of elite clubs registering their interest in Celtic's prized asset who is set to play in tomorrow's Old Firm showdown.

But the latest serious interest comes from a less established club in Italy, who are now backed by controversial former Italian president Berlusconi - whose fortune was valued at £6 billion this year.

"The key thing for me is that we don’t have to be too stressed about what could potentially be incoming because we’ve kind of already done our business.”

Literally says "we've kind of already done our business". Again, not saying it explicitly but he is heavily implying it.

Regardless, I'm sure we'll bring in a striker.

EDIT: the above quote is from the Record article this morning, so could be twisting words.

I think there will be a lot of outgoings this month.

I can see Juranovic, Giakoumakis, Abildgaard, Ideguchi, Hazard, Robertson and Welsh (possibly).

In addition, the likes of Oluyemi, Lawal, Summers and Vata to go out on loan at a higher level than Scottish Lowland league.

I am pretty confident there will still be a few more to come in.

I'd expect 2 more players to come in.

    Lol, “kind of”.

If my boss asked me if I have done the job and I replied with “kind of”… as quick as a flash he’d reply with, “you either have or you haven’t done the job”.

“Kind of” is as wishy washy, non committal, answer as you can get.

Think we should be looking at getting some out before signing anyone else.

Just my interpretation but think what he's saying is we've brought players in already in case any of our players attract bids. Therefore if players leave it doesn't give us extra business to do and we don't need to rush into any transfers either way.

I've seen Ange make far more definitive answers on our transfer business.. yet we've still signed more e.g. O'Reilly.

We're definitely not done given he's still looking to strengthen and quite obvious we're looking at a striker.

I mean if GG leaves, we'll have one natural striker.

True but a deal might be done on a striker we just don't know, Ange does :86:

I think we all know by now Big Ange has complete and utter contempt for the tramps in the Scottish media .. so anything he says to them needs to be taken with a pinch of salt..

I think Anges transfer policy is like his football philosophy... "We never stop".. we will do business when and if its right for Celtic...

    * love Ange..

If he came out and explicitly said "we're not doing any more transfer business this window" I'd be half expecting a new signing within days, he gives these rats in the media nothing.

His choice of words has the * in the media on strings, they can’t handle it so peddle out the auld “Celtic are done pish” mind that mark hendry said we where done after Mooy and ange said same “if something comes up we an react then we will” 3 work permit applications pending tells me we will react 3 times if need be!

Apologies if this has been asked before but who is responsible for the upturn in our recruitment success this past year and a half? Obviously Ange will be the one that signs off on whether he wants the players and will be heavily involved especially with the Japanese guys but then you have players like Abada, o Riley, Haksabanovic, Juranovic etc picked up in Europe for bargain fees and our success rate on players hitting the ground running is insane at the moment. Have we invested a lot more money into our scouting network or how we go about things as surely this can’t be either all down to one man (Ange) or luck? I’ve never know us to be this savvy and also the board trusting the manager this much - amazing to see right now

Not sure for certain as you say Ange for the Japanese guys and his contacts over there, but mainly his knowledge of the market.

I think the biggest contributing factor is Ange being able to set out a clear way he wants to play. It’s always easier to find something if you know what you’re looking for.

Its no coincidence the full backs we sign used to be midfielders. Our strikers specialise in quick movement and getting on the end of cut backs and crosses. Our wingers all carry a goal threat and like to attack the back post.
Our centre backs need to be comfy in the ball.
