It's the booking for Bernabéi that makes it all the more ridiculous.

It's clearly an accidental hand ball, he's not even looking at it.
It's clearly headed in to his arm from close range.
It's not a penalty at all, but if they want to give it, they have to give others (us against hearts), but the yellow card is just * baffling.

The yellow is basically confirming that any hand/arm ball is a pen and a booking.

    Mental from them.

Hoachin that “goal” could cost Celtic the title and £30m in guaranteed 23/24 CL income btw it’s not human error it’s * deliberate! This has dougie-gate and Jim Farry vibes!

VAR is just a second chance for them to stick it to us, so far we have been penalised on about 6 or 7 occasions in 4 games where pre VAR they wouldn’t have had the chance to reconsider or just blatantly deny us or penalise us.

the system is fine it’s the people overseeing it, if we thought it would help then we were severely mistaken it’s turned into another tool for them to beat us with it.

The var ref manually adds single pixel lines which are then changed into broader ones to give margin. The Motherwell players line looks like it goes straight through the middle of his body.

The var cameras are supposed to be static, they are separate from the broadcast cameras and have separate operators, they are not supposed to follow play which is why the angle given wasn't focused on play, just sit there as a fixed reference point for when needed. The explanation that the camera operator was using the var camera to look at the managers is absolutely mental and the idea that people are dumb enough to believe it seems baked into the excuse.

The question I have is who provided the reason, was it the camera operator or the var referee and does the statement come from Crawford Allen or the broadcaster/var camera operators.

Edit: it says in the statement that this comes from 'referee operations', did anyone verify this?

‘Received the ball in an offside position’. Are they having a * laugh? That’s not the rules, its when it leaves the players foot :giggle1:

And am sure a camera 60 yards away at a * angle can spot an offside without the help of another camera. These * are at it! * hope we go for the jugular here.

SFA break silence over Celtic offside goal as admission made over VAR camera
The Scottish FA has responded to concerns raised over the camera angle used to disallow a Celtic goal during the 2-1 win over Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday.

Jota's second-half effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR check but the images shared publicly appeared inconclusive after a camera situated in the opposite end of the ground was used to highlight the incident.

Celtic contacted the SFA seeking answers, and the governing body has responded with an admission that the nearside camera situated in the Motherwell end "did not capture an appropriate view of the incident". However, they insist the VAR decision to chalk off the goal was the correct one.

An SFA statement read: “Referee Operations can confirm that during a VAR review at Motherwell v Celtic, the footage from the relevant 18-yard line camera did not capture an appropriate view of the incident.

While the broadcast footage was only able to show a wider camera angle for viewers, Hawk-Eye technology is designed to calibrate an accurate offside decision from either of the two 18-yard line camera positions, with the subsequent VAR review determining that the Celtic player had received the ball in an offside position.

"We have provided feedback to the host broadcaster on the incident as part of our regular review of the system operation."

Good point. Another thing I see pretty much every game is that a player of ours will get fouled after the ball has been passed, we're either through on goal or on a very dangerous attack and the ref blows the whistle and brings it back for the foul (usually at the half-way line or thereabouts), despite us having a clear advantage/goal scoring opportunity if he let's the game continue. So why don't they let the play go on? This needs to be highlighted and questioned as well because it's infuriating and there's no reason it should happen.

Every single thing about the officiating in Scotland is either corrupt or wildly incompetent. I'm more inclined to believe its more corrupt but both are true. The standard here is genuinely frighteningly bad. I often can't believe what I'm watching. * knows what the players and Ange think.

    An astonishing statement..

The camera that should've been clearest....didn't see a thing of play so they've got the lines from our own 18 yard line. L O L..

Then as mentioned....the wording of Jota being offside when he 'RECEIVED' the ball. Hmmmm.......

    Hoaching..

Agree * stinks and there not supposed to be three cameras in each half what happened to the other two are they not available either * hoaching as you say .
The club should come out with another statement saying it's not good enough and if the camera is not available or not working then VAR should have been not available then and not taking camera angles from 30 yards away it's a * joke .

That is an admission of failure by the SFA.
Celtic should call for the immediate suspension of the VAR experiment on the grounds that it is
    not fit for purpose.
And call for an emergency meeting of Scottish Clubs to discuss the fall out from the failure of the VAR system.

Was there not another quite right call we never got to see the lines drawing? Against Hearts I think.

I've been in the pro VAR camp a long time now, but the shambles we've witnessed since it was implemented makes me think it was a premature decision to launch it in Scotland. Wrong use of offside cameras and similar situations reffed to different standards just can't happen on this level.

Celtic FC need to release some sort of public statement at this point. A point no one is making is that we are shelling out over £100,000 per season for this farce. If this was a regular customer/seller transaction you'd be * furious at what your money is buying.

Is there any sort of soft protest we can do as fans to let the board know we need them to speak out on this? Boycott the Superstore?
