Probably an optimist, but not sure I agree. O'Neill, Strachan and Lennon all made a dent in the CL.

    Ange can do similar.

In our last 4 CL campaigns we have won just 1 match at home and 1 match away, giving us 2 wins from our last 24 games. 5 have been draws (2 at home and 3 away) and the remaining 17 have been lost (9 at home and 8 away)
we have scored 7 goals in the 12 home games and conceded 26
on the road we have scored 10 goals in the 12 games and conceded 37
20 goals against 63 in our last 4 campaigns is absolutely pathetic

We have played 21 clubs in the Champions League

    5. Barcelona – P10, W1, D1, L8
    4. AC Milan – P8, W1, D2, L5
    3. Benfica – P6, W2, D1, L3

Never saw the game but 5-1 didnt sound good. Checked stats and said shots on target was 9-8 to Madrid, was this another loads of mussed chances?.

2 penaltys conceded and one missed. That set the tone really. However it wasn’t as bad as a performance as the score line suggests. We should’ve scored atleast 3 and the O’Riley handball was never one. Also ref blowing 3 times as we are in dangerous positions didn’t help. She was beyond *. Add the the fact we are missing our captain and amin defender and our best attacker was on bench to start it wasnt a terrible night.

I think we played well today, even better than in Glasgow when we played them. They scored 3 goals against us from open play when psychologically we were still dealing with conceding those 2 penalties in the first half.

Rules learnt in school boy football still apply at this level, and were applied to us as well today, but we again did not follow them. You need to shoot low and hard against tall keepers. Why the * are we hitting high shots at Courtois ? Juranovic for some unexplicable reason did not choose to hit that penalty low and to the right as he usually does.

Valverde and Asensio hit hard and low shots past Hart to score. Starfelt would have cleared the ball if he had kept his eye on it and went to it rather than looking to see where his opponent was to his left.

Must say I did not expect anything from that distance from Jota when he took that free kick to score from outside the box.
It was magnificent ! Gave us some pride as well in the Bernabeu. Obviously he has been practising his shooting at training.
I wish the other lads were doing the same.

All credit to the Celtic fans that travelled to Madrid to watch this game. We can only improve by learning when we play against mega-clubs like Real Madrid. How old is Rodrygo - sixteen ? He looks so young !

Valverde will become a super star for his club - very impressive.

Not happy with the referee, gave too many free kicks to Real for non-existent fouls and yellow cards to us for minor infringements.

The ref was *, and I think alot of that was due to the fact that she was a she.
But the answer is to have MORE female refs at the top level.
Once it becomes common place they'll stop thinking it's all about them.

So either have lot's of female refs, or don't have any and let them stay at home and do the dishes and the ironing.

Has nothing to do with gender.

For what it's worth, while I didn't agree with some of her decisions she was like Pierluigi Collina compared to the * we get served up in Scotland.

Ok, the last bit is tongue in cheek, but the rest of it in my opinion is correct. The sooner female refs are seen as normal , the sooner they won't feel under the microscope and can just let the game flow without feeling the need to justify their postion by doing things that don't need to be done.

Another example of a ref, who despite being very good thought he was the star of the show
He even had an agent FFS.

They are not demi-gods, they simply practise their skills at training and do it better than us because we do not do enough of it ourselves.

Thought we played well in stretches... horribly naive in others... and just outclassed / outmuscled / outworked elsewhere.

It's frustrating because I think we have the players to get results... if they're set up to defend and break when appropriate. But Ange has made it clear that that is not going to happen - he wants to try and play attacking football 100% of the time.

I am prepared to get on board with this philosophy, BUT I need hm and the Club to commit to each other long term. This is not a 'couple of seasons' project for a Club like ours - that would be a complete waste of everyones time. For this to have any chance of success, it'll need to be a long term one... and all those involved have to admit to this and commit to it.

Just watched the game (had to listen on Cltic TV last night). Decent performance from us, despite the score. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

In fact the only embarrassing thing was the "atmosphere" in the Bernabeau - absolutely pathetic. Celtic fans outsung them the whole night. Pans to the crown and everyone on their smartphones . Pathetic, glory hunters. I hope Celtic never goes down that road. I'd rather be us any day.
