Liel Abada

He’s young, but he has a long, long way to go.

 

Was saying in terms of getting into goalscoring positions he's one of the best I've ever saw in the hoops for a winger, but contributing crosses and especially dribbling he is probably the worst I've ever saw, and I include the absolute dross who have played wide.

He's very young though and just needs to sometimes put the head down and go at players.

 

Hi genuinely believe he’ll end up a centre-forward or perhaps a 10, if his passing improves.

 

He's excellent at those runs into the box, getting himself into great goal scoring positions. Had a part in the goal in that respect.

However he's absolutely brutal on the ball.

 

He's not a traditional winger. He's never going to skin people or cross well.

He will score 20 a season.

 

Still too raw for this level. Got far more out of Forrest in half the time

 

Looked like a wee boy lost again tonight on the big stage. Very very poor but more importantly he looked scared.

 

Been our weakest player in the CL games, broke down many attacks every game. Tries to be too quick and direct, rarely takes a touch and has a look like Jota, Haksabanovic and Forrest will all slow it down and square a guy up, Abada just runs like Forrest Gump and hits a cross off the defender, you only really see him cutting back when he is going to do it to shoot with his left.

 

The same thing happened last season. He went missing for a while. Then suddenly came back and had a great run of games.

He lacks consistency which is often the case with younger players.

 

Mental he lasted 65 mins on the park. He was a solid 2/10.

 

Some of the sh*te he served up last night genuinely doesn’t seem like stuff age can remedy. I hope I’m wrong ofc.

 

He looks to me like a poacher who’s been chucked out on the wing cause he has a bit of pace, long term his position is definitely through the middle. He doesn’t possess the skill or technical ability.

 

Still rate him but he was poor.

Still need to be reminded that he's really young still.

 

He just shouldn't cross or try to dribble on the outside. Only really effective drifting in.

 

Celtic are in talks with attacking duo Liel Abada and Giorgos Giakoumakis over improved contracts.

The Scottish Premiership leaders are keen to reward the pair for their fine form this season, with 16 goals and two assists already between them.


Both are under contract until 2026 but discussions are ongoing about new five-year deals that would tie them to the club until 2027.




Celtic believe they can be an integral part of the squad for years to come and also hope new terms will put off potential suitors for the pair, who are being tracked by clubs in the Premier League.

Abada has scored eight times in all competitions from the wings for Celtic and set up two more, and is expected to play a key role in their visit to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

 

Well deserved add an additional 5 years on to his deal

 

Neither are irreplaceable but this guarantees us top dollar. Excellent move by the club. Abada is £15m plus at the moment. Barely 21 and crazy goals/assists in his time here.

 

Sorry but not a chance is he worth that.

 

He is if somebody is willing to pay it, and Premier League clubs will pay for potential. There aren't many players his age putting up goal and assist numbers equal to his in flight leagues across Europe.
