Actually watch the Man U game last night was the best I’ve seen them playing, played as a team last night, rather than that moanin * not putting in a shift moanin every time he received a pass, Lennon s mob kept him at bay and so did Newcastle in the previous 2 games

Honestly there’s been moments I really have taken to him, mostly off the pitch personality is a lot different and his backing of Palestine or charity work and a lot of stuff he’s went out the way to show him as a model professional. His relationship with Benzema at Real when Benzema was getting booed was tremendous and * I like.

And always need to appreciate him as a footballer. But overall he’s always been a stroppy unlikeable * on the pitch that you just need to admire for what he does.

He’s showing himself up majorly now, for a club he supposedly loves.

I liked him in his first spell at Man U, he was genuinely up there with Ronaldinho for the outrageous stuff he used to pull off.

Then Messi comes on the scene and starts to outshine him and his ego couldn’t handle it. He then becomes obsessed with just beating Messi’s numbers every year, becoming the best goalscorer in modern times but lost the magic in the process of doing so.

His numbers and absolute dedication to becoming what he did can’t be dismissed but he just hasn’t ever been close to Messi for me, on and off the pitch, even if Messi isn’t all he’s made out to be off the pitch, allegedly anyway.

I hated him then because he kicked Broony in a huff and got away with it, because he’s Ronaldo:56:

See the reason I’m amazed with him? He’s got a very good case of being above Messi by what he’s done, whilst having nowhere near that talent. But he made sure he was going down as one of the greatest ever.

His dedication is unreal, and any player could do that, but they don’t. I’ve always said this as a ridiculous comparison, but imagine 18 year old Tony Watt had that dedication, where would he have been?

9 more goals and he becomes the top goalscorer in competitive matches of all time.
In the 19.5 seasons he has been playing he has averaged 40.87 goals per season
Messi has averaged 39.89 goals a season in the 18.5 seasons in top flight football he has played

Messi is a playmaker, not a simple goalscorer, yet his stats are better than Ronaldo's. Astonishing really.

Cristiano isn't even the best Ronaldo.

    Messi is also a goalscorer.

i’ve always made the comparison as players between them as, both have similar goalscoring records. So if you take that out the equation, Messi is basically an Iniesta, what would you say Ronaldo would be?

However, Ronaldos record in knock out stages is ridiculous, and probably unbeatable

I love Broony. More so now that we don’t have him.

Favourite ever Celt? Arguably yes - and I grew up watching Henrik.

However, even I wouldn’t mind giving him a wee kick if I got the chance, so no judging from me. :fear:

Needs a move in January, would be best for both parties.

No sure any of the real top teams would want him at this stage though, maybe a loan move back to Sporting if they make the last 16.

Mate I always just say favourite ever Celt, outwith Henrik, makes the question much harder.

Broony is possibly my answer there as well.

Think his ego is too big for that though, I could see a move to directly compete against Utd due to that. Newcastle would be an obvious choice

Fully admit, that’s cherry picked as * stats, but considering he’s started when players who might not be first choice want to prove themselves, that’s telling.

Truth is he's probably now at the stage of his career where he needs to move to a lower level.
