Cheating Bastards or an Anomaly (Celtic Penalty Stats Vs Other Teams)

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by ILoveTheCeltic, Oct 9, 2022.

  1. VAR will be manned by a Sevco supporting ex ref or current official

nothing will change for the better

  2. Wait, you mean Rangers, the tribute act of a club who cheated Scottish football via financial doping for at least a decade, also cheat? Colour me shocked!

  3. A coin get tossed to see what way a team wants to play, they get the wind behind their backs bcos of all the * they spew out to make the wind

  4. We should have had a penalty against Motherwell for handball that was clear as day and a penalty yesterday for a foul that couldn't be anymore obvious. We were only 1 goal up, it's why they weren't given.
I don't believe that we should only be getting 1 pen more than Hamilton who played 50 games less.

3 of Celtic's penalties have been against Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts
14 of Rangers penalties have been against Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts

  6. Part of it will be tactics/ mentality, they play for them we don't, but it is still an odd stat especially given him much we have the ball around the area

  7. Aye no doubt Ange will drill it into players to keep the ball in play whenever possible, stay on your feet etc. while the mankies will be drilling in the exact opposite. Still a scandalous stat though when you consider the amount of clear cut penalties that haven't been given in recent years.

  8. Definitely hun officials.

We could have had 5/6 this season and not been given any. Mind at the start of the season was it first game Hatate shot and the guy done him late around the penalty spot, had him down with a sore one. Kent tripping Abada, the Motherwell hand ball and Hearts hand ball, probably a couple we've forgot.

Exact same claims we've had Huns will probably have been given about 4 of them, most other teams 1-3 us not even any.

  9. If anyone has the stats for average touches in the penalty box, looking at all those teams, difference would be mental I imagine.

  10. We've actually had it at 3 league game's this month alone. Lol..

    All clear handballs as well..

Lamie when the game was tight, saved the cross with his hands and would've been given a second yellow..

We get a man sent off late on as we almost drop 2 point's..

St Johnstone player knocks the ball out with 2 hands when Maeda was going for an overhead kick at 1 nil. Would've been 2 and we almost dropped 2 points..

The obvious on Saturday and again all those games were to put daylight between us and every one of them almost cost us..

Cheating *. One in a month, a mistake....but 3 in a month, all obvious handballs. Lol..

Special mention to the linesmen who keep flying under the radar for miles onside calls yet flagging us. Roome was at it again Saturday. It's been happening all season..

Have previously discussed penalties awarded in this thread, just some interesting additional observations...

In the league this season, Sevco have been awarded 5 pens (2 pre VAR 3 since VAR). By comparison, Celtic have had 2 (both since VAR came in).

But this post is more about when they've been awarded AGAINST.

This season Sevco are still yet to have a pen awarded against them. Celtic have had 5 awarded against (all of which have been since VAR came in). Incidently, every other team in the top flight has conceded at least 1 Pen except Sevco.

But it's not just this season...

The last time Sevco had a pen awarded against them at Ipox was September 2019.

Since that day, they have been penalized just 4 times in the league. Once more later that same season (19/20) and 3 times in 2021/22. They had zero pens awarded against them in the entire of 2020/21 and again zero so far this season.

    That's 4 times in 121 games. 0 in 60 games at Ipox.

By comparison, Celtic have had 15 awarded against in that time - 7 of which have been at Paradise. Roughly a pen awarded against Celtic every 8 league games. Sevco are penalized once in every 30 games on average over that time.

    ... :87:

  11. Those stats alone shows the * cheating going on and the refs in this country need gutted out from top to bottom and EPL rules brought in that refs must declare their boyhood team so they don't get their games .

  12. Scandalous...

Get this emailed to the Celtic Board and the press...

  13. You can take that further since VAR came in anytime the ball has hit one of our players hands in the box it has been a penalty to the opponent.

There have been far more incidents of their players having the ball hit their arm or the one at the weekend which was basically a save high and wide of his head with no penalty. Tavernier almost scored and own goal in I think it was the Hibs game with the ball coming off his out stretched arm and there have been several others.

What I would like to know is, if this is simply down to incompetence and honest mistakes that we are being given penalties against us (rightly or wrongly) and they are never being subject to the same “misfortune”?

On Sunday I actually don’t think Collum is in the category of Beaton, Madden, Dallas Jnr, Walsh and Anderson but I do think the hard time he is given every time something goes against Rangers has intimidated him.

The game up at Aberdeen where he got all big calls right except missing a penalty to Aberdeen and a potential red for McGregor, he gets a letter put in about him, then this season the Hibs game Lundstrum has a wild lunge studs up and gets sent off only for it to get rescinded for no real obvious error have take their toll. He now seems afraid to actually call anything against them.

  14. That's a ridiculous read, horrendous numbers there.

I don't know how else it can be explained regarding domestic bias in our league.

Much like how this thread started I'd be interested to see a Rest of Europe comparison of the top teams to see how many they've conceded domestically in the same time (121 games)

Surely, the comparisons will show the numbers are closer towards Celtic then the huns.

  15. Is there stats for penalties awarded against teams, I actually can't remember the last time Rangers gave away a penalty outside of Europe.
I saw someone (was a Tim) argue that the refs aren't necessarily huns (although lots are) but scared shitless of them because any move that causes controversy from their board gets them reffing a match between ICT and Alloa. Because they are part timers they won't have a fixed salary so can pretty much be replaced with ease.

  16. * sake...

  17. This just shows how bad it is but as well as showing prejudice against us it’s the favourable bias for the Huns against the other teams that’s despicable. It’s hard enough for us and we are streets ahead of them all in footballing terms but the other 10 teams have no chance if this is allowed to continue I think Refs should have to explain their decisions like in rugby I don’t see why we can’t hear the conversation between the ref and his linesman or the VAR officials it’s no secret so why can’t they be hooked to the PA system so we understand their process why they give a decision one way or the other

it would keep the game more honest, :fear:

  18. It should definitely be mic'd for broadcast, I can see why they don't have it broadcast in the stadium, there'd probably be riots if it was. It works a treat for rugby

  19. It's been going on for years. I thought the scrutiny of VAR might reduce it but it's just made it worse.

I remember in the 70s if the Huns drew 0-0 the first question that would be asked is "who missed the penalty?"
