Eh, why has no-one mentioned This Is Spinal Tap?

The funniest film ever made, infinitely better than most films mentioned here.

Bad News and This Is Spinal Tap were produced more or less at the same time. Spinal Tap was released a year later.
It's hardly surprising that two different groups of comedy writers did parodies of heavy rock bands in the early 80s. To this day, hard rock is a wealth of potential comedy, but it was more overblown and ridiculously extravagant in the 80s.

The Spinal Tap crew also did A Mighty Wind, a similar style of film except for the fact that it was based on folk music. And funny as * too.

Without Spinal Tap there would have been no 'The Office', one of the best and most successful British comedies of the last 20 years.

Its a pity "the office" is pretentious * anally retentive *.
