    Here the whole time
That's where we have a bit of an issue, we clearly have a starting midfield with, currently, only two feasible back up options. If we were to lose either mcgregor or hatate it leaves us with a midfield with two of O'riley, Turnbull or Mooy, lose both and thats our midfield three. That's a real lack of mobility, and both O'riley and Turnbull are more than a bit soft.

It's not about replacing, more about providing options. Any time I've seen Barkley he looks to have a bit of an engine and strength, qualities we are a bit short of not just in midfield.

If we can’t get a defensive midfielder who fits Ange’s model, then I’d be happy bringing in Barkley.

He’d add a bit of physicality and bite, plus his CL experience wouldn’t go amiss, and we’re definitely one light in there.

I thought that mate until I read the thread properly and it seems to be someone who doesn't play wide and is maybe an 8 and 6..

We'll soon see if it's imminent with the window closing tomorrow. You'd imagine the name will surface by our game later..

Feel like this would be similar to Hart in that the majority (myself included) turned their nose up at him and it wasn’t until he’s here we all realise how good he still is.

Plenty of quality players end up washed up down in England for whatever reason and chelsea probably wasn’t the best move for him but I’d be absolutely delighted if he ended up here.

A manager like Ange and somewhere where he feels loved and we’d have a top drawer midfielder, and one we’re crying out for.

Anyone know if our interest in him is genuine or just paper talk?
