I dont think that January is the time to be doing most of your transfer buisness. By then we could be out of europe(unlikely). Also any players we do buy in January if they are of good quality will prop be cup-tied if we are still in europe. The summer is the time to buy, it also gives the player more time to settle.

    Kyogo. A phenomenon

A good point, as well as the window itself being far shorter, and prices being inflated, what i mean is there is no REQUIREMENT to spend all our money right now before the season starts; for all we know, there could even be the possibilities of moves in place for players that have been enquired about already, but that these moves may not be finalised until after the window shuts.

I still await confirmation that Osasuna had a sell-on clause for Cuellar...effectively meaning that the 8 mill becomes 6, and that after the inevitable Davis purchase they have pennies left. That would be splendid.

what you have got to remember is the players who want a move in this aswell, they know time is running out for them to get there dream move ,ex,tamas celtic were after him for a while ,maybe he is thinking they might come back in for him as time goes on ,and peter lawell been a shrewd man will know this ,and he might get offered him at a reduced rate ,players panic aswell ,and the way PL works i wouldnt lose any sleep over whos coming in ,cos im sure he will deliver a player or two

I agree with the posters who said we should be more profesional than having our budget affected, within direct relation to what the Huns do. Last summer Lawwell revealed that WGS had not spent his total budget. We then went on to have a very successful season both on and off the pitch. Towards the end of the season it was confirmed that the SPL champions would go straight in to the group stages and would be guaranteed at least 10 million. This should have been and indeed was one of many motivating factors to us retaining our flag. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

IMO we should have had a number of potential targets in mind months ago and depending on our achievements. Then that would dictate which players on that list we could afford, this seems to have not happened though. It has been no secret for months now where the team has needed strengthened you would think these positions would have been a priority well before the final weeks ofthis window. For me we should have plenty of money to go out and attract 2 or 3 quality players and we should have done so well before now.

I was looking forward to this window with great anticipation in fact I think most of us expected some exciting faces to arrive this summer. Yes we have two or three weeks left of the window to bring in new blood and we probably will do just that. I just feel that whoever comes in now will not be a top target. As any club worth its salt, IMO would have identified their top targets long before now. It seems to me that we must have failed to bring these targets to the club and now we are sort of having to make do with what’s left at the bottom of the barrel.

Up to this moment I have been very disappointed with out transfer activity and have now convinced myself not to expect too much from the remainder of it. I really hope I am wrong and we see some quality players arrive soon, however I am not holding my breath as I don’t want to be disappointed any further.

Any quality signings now will be a huge bonus for me.

    I agree Hammer!

There's still more than enough time to bring players in - Approximately two weeks left until it closes and re-opens in January - Im sure Celtic have transfer negotiations on-going with Clubs and Players in the back-ground.

I think we should all be used to it now, Celtic seem to leave it late to bring new faces to the club, and over the past couple of seasons, i'm sure i'm right in saying, we've done more in the January Window.
