Cheers. Can't believe I forgot about him He's been a big influence behind the back 4 aswell.

 

If you go back to my first post of the season you'll see I was saying we're going to win the league. As much as the board get stick, they aren't that stupid! Even thou he was an unknown, I trusted there judgment because they knew we needed that league back or the team playing well. Even Eddie who would have been a great appointment although that didn't pan out the way it was supposed too. Ange as much as we all love him, another few years people on here will start picking holes in what he does then it'll be the same aul * from some of our supporters when things aren't going to plan! Ange is stubborn and soon as the fans turn on him, he'll give the two fingers up to them just like Lenny did when they turned on him. With that said, I hope it never happens and this decade * be here and win trophy after trophy with us along with European success.

 

By the wording of your posts you sound as if you think Lennon doesn’t deserve stick. Guy in no way can be compared to Ange.

Lenny deserves stick, that is a given. Does he deserve the vile * he's getting from some Celtic fans. Not a chance!

ok cool. just thought people might be interested in the sporting culture that ange has come from. given there's been a fair bit of chat about the way he handles media. this is a very extreme example from just last night - but it shows the dynamic between coach and media in australia. in this instance, murdoch media being completely shredded by a coach.

but fair enough, no harm intended..

Any other team in Europe or even I guess....across the city....it a manager came in and is doing what Ange is doing he'd be heralded as a * genius.

Of course I don't want to get to excited or to full of praise but the job he's done is just unthinkable.

 

Aye, the mans a *. Only cares about himself, and look where that got him in the end. Threw everyone but himself under the bus last year. He even had the cheek to still slag us the fans off months after his departure.

Hes right, i do have * all in common with him. But i have a hella lot in common with ange

 

I remember arguing with many of you fruitcakes in the first few months of the season that Ange's teams know how to defend but need some time to adjust. I even backed this up with statistics on how he improved the defences of every team he joined, and even with that I got attacked.

And now...

 

Europe next season will certainly be interesting to see how our defence copes as we weren’t good defensively in Europe this season

 

Goal / shot stats only tell part of the story.

We typically have SO much of the ball when playing against domestic opponents. That means they have very few shots / goal opportunities against us. Sure, the defenders play a role in retaining the ball, but most of that retention happens in the midfield.

What needs scrutinised is not binary 'goals against' stats - rather goals conceded v opponents chances. It might just be my perception, but my eyes seem to tell me that we concede too many blitz goals against the run of (open) play, and FAR too many goals from set-pieces.

 

Even if that proves a high number, provided the number of chances are low, that might still yield an acceptable number.

Agree goals do come from getting 'blitzed', but par for the course given the style (set pieces; I am with you).

Stats in Scotland don't mean much to me given the domination. Europe will be a far better yardstick next season.
