Not just do we get an extra 2-3m for ourselves but the huns also lose all the money they would have gained if they made the group stages so the money swing in our favour is even bigger.

Not just that but if we can put in another solid European effort this season we hopefully can really open up a bigger gap on the field as well.

The only down side is the huns now will have an easier go in spl games on weeks when we have tough European games so I think it is even more important now that we bring in reinforcements and beef up our squad so we can handle the extra game load.

All that TV money will be nice, not getting split in half this year.

    Here's an article about it:

CELTIC have just collected an extra £2million-plus ... without even passing go.
Rangers' fall at their first hurdle in the qualification race for this season's Champions League means the entire £4.5m share of the TV pool awarded to Scotland's representatives drops into the Parkhead coffers before Gordon Strachan's men have kicked a ball.
However, Celtic fans - frustrated at the news the plug has been pulled on the bid to bring in Gabriel Tamas and Marko Basa - will be anxious to see their club utilise this windfall.
They want the advantage gained over the past 24 hours to be maximised and would have been reassured to hear that Marc Crosas is on his way from Barcelona.

I voted no on the poll because,

We may get all of the Scottish Allocation for UCL TV Money but thats a short term gain to a long term problem.

With Rangers gone, QOTS destined to fail miserably in Europe, Scotland's Coefficient will take another bad year under its belt. Scotland needs more than Celtic doing well, it also needs more than Rangers doing well, it needs at the minimum, both Celtic and Rangers doing well in the UCL to ensure that at least the SPL champions get an automatic place in the UCL.

Next season, even if we win the league, we'll probably have to do some qualifying and wether you get Kaunas, Spartak or whoever, there is a risk and its something we are happy to do without.

We laugh now and rightfully so but if we want to see the SPL become a better league, earn more respect around Europe, we need the best teams put forward first of all, not QOTS, not Dumfermline, not Gretna, we need our best teams to qualify for the Group Stages for European Competitions and looking to go beyond that and in turn, we, Celtic can attract better players as we'll be able to point out the standard the SPL can set in Europe but at the moment we cant and the only thing we can use to attract players of notable talent is being in the Group stages of the UCL which will become a problem again for us next season.

Anyways, rant is over but its some food for thought. Still slag the Huns though!

At least some good news in that respect is that it'll be the top 12 leagues Champions in Europe getting automatic entry for the Champions League instead of the current 10 from this season onwards.
