This is a John McGinn /Ivan Toney all over again. Biscuit tin back out. Middlesbrough giving him 14k a week I’d have thought we could have matched that at least considering that donkey McCarthy is rumoured to be on similar wages. Middlesbrough also offering his club £2 million more. I guess ange will shrug his shoulders and move on. He only wants players who want to I be there. Pity as he would have had a great experience with us. European football and possibly a big move to the premiership in a couple of years. Middlesbrough will make millions from him

 

if reports are true then cant really blame the club on this one , fee and wages already agreed but if its true what middlesbourgh have came back in with then the board will have to weigh up if hes worth another few million to be a squad player. Would have been glad to see him sign but only want committed players at the club , seen last season what half hearted got us

 

how is the biscuit tin back out? If Middlesbrough have offered his club 2 million more then they can have him hardly biscuit tin not worth 5 million. Shows you the lads mentality would rather move for slightly more money than the chance to play at the biggest club he’d get the opportunity to play for off you pop

 

McGregor if he needs a rest can be replaced by McCarthy or Ideguchi. Turnbull will be fighting it out with Hatate. Someone to supplement Rogic maybe would be helpful but a £3 million player wouldn't make sense to act as back up.

 

Middlesbrough ffs. Mediocrity is almost written in the name.

 

Bit disappointing, our window seemed to be going too smoothly.
Looks like Middlesbrough might have just blown us out the water with their offer, think the fee is 2mil more and then the wage must be a lot higher too. They will have seen him 1st hand at Birmingham and know what he can give down there. The Birmingham fans will be even more sickened now when he's lining up against them.

 

Surely up to Riley himself and he’ll be wanting to join up with Ange and Rogic for trophies and European football,or maybe I’m just being naive.

Exactly,if we were to throw another couple million at a player it should be for Wolfe.

 

From what I see this morning, nowt like the mcginn saga.

The MLS deals with large part of the negotiations for players and if we had already agreed the £3million, then we can't be faulted for another club reportedly coming in with 2million more!

That's not our fault, if we had agreed everything and another club comes in with an improved bid.

Should we suddenly jump 2-2.5million? Arguably not, that's a massive jump and not a difference of a couple of hundred k (as was the eventual selling price of mcginn).

Should also be noted that Hibs refused to negotiate with Celtic and never budged from their demand of £4million, till villa came in with an offer of £2.7 and accepted it straight away.

It just shows nothing is done until its done..

Disappointed, as he seems highly rated and Ange knows him..

But, we move on and at least we won't lose another overseas international from the squad.

I would give money to not move to Middlesbrough.

 

If it was 90% done as it was plastered everywhere, and Middlesbrough have offered more then its not down to the club, it's the players agent. He's reached out last minute to Middlesbrough and said offer this (his fee goes up also) and I'll get your player. And if his wage is 14k a week at Boro, then his mentality is questionable. He's not going, offered life changing sums like like going to Saudi. We move on.

Use the cash for Wolfe, please.

 

At the end of the day if he chooses Middlesbrough for a few more grand a week then he’s not what we want at Celtic.

 

Another reason why we shouldn’t entertain hibs when it comes to boyle. Give them nothing. They’ve done well getting Henderson from us.

From what I'm reading online here it's more to do with personal terms as opposed to genuinely preferring to move to Middlesbrough.

Could be wrong though......I'm good at that.

 

Not so sure, it was reported we were paying £2.5-3m upfront with & £1.5m add ons, sounds like Middlesbrough have just said we will give you it all upfront plus a little more. £5m is a big outlay for us on a player especially when trying to buy Jota and CCV as well.

McGree sounded like he fitted the profile of what Ange was looking for but if he is more interested in personal terms to go to Middlesbrough, who are at best in the hunt for the playoffs but 9 points behind and have played a game more than Fulham in second, then we move on.
