Hows your hard on for Du Starfelt coming on?

 

Agreed.....nowhere near our worst, has the occasional brain fart through lack of concentration. There is a player there if he can get his concentration sorted.....but I'm unsure we will see the player in there, hopefully he proves us wrong...

BTW anyone lumping Du Wei or Effy in with R. Schiect is out of order.....schiect belonged in a Saturday morning pub league playing with a hangover....

 

Aye I've been saying he needs to man up/toughen up..

I like a centre half that striker's are feart to go near incase they get kicked in the air or bullied basically. No one's that striker's actively stand on and rough up..

 

I don't think you can compare him to Du Wei, Compper or Scheidt as they hardly played. When you compare him to the players who have been regarded as in our top 3 CBs and who have played a decent number of games I'm struggling to think of anyone worse. The only one comparable is Efe but I think Starfelt is worse.
It doesn't give me any pleasure saying this and I'd be delighted if he came good but I just can't see it. I haven't seen any games where I'd say he stood out as playing well just games where he hasn't made an obvious mistake.

 

Starfelt for me is not used to how we set up to play , in other words there is a lot more responsibility on our defensive players because we are so open at times , put the same player in a defensive side and he will be a good player , that's why sometimes we look at spl defensive players and think we shoulda went after them, but in our side would be a lot more exposed ,making errors more critical and fatal causing a goal.

 

No one has said he is the worst defender in our history apart from you. If they did, they're idiots as well.

Sorry, when did I say Starfelt was good enough? When did I say I rated him?

Get him tae * in January and bring in a replacement.

 

Didn't Starfelt play really well against Motherwell. Pretty sure he was the one player that made sure we kept a clean sheet.

Having said that, one good/great game in 16 is nothing to write home about.

 

He was fantastic against Hearts as well, and there's at least another 2 games where people were raving about him.

He isn't good enough for us, but for people to say he's one of the worst CB's we've ever had is complete and utter nonsense.

 

Nah: Majstorovic, Rogne and Loovens were all rank over a period of time, and out of those 3, only Loovens could be argued to be better than Starfelt, but I’d suggest he wasn’t. There must be dozens more as well.

He’s definitely not among our worst ever.

 

It's all about opinions I suppose but I think Starfelt is worse than them. I didn't get nervous every time they had the ball and I can't remember anyone scoring an OG like the one he scored against AZ though I realise that's one incident.

 

There wasn't anywhere near as many digs aimed at Duffy/Kenny last season, when they would have been well deserved.

Wonder why there's so many folk crawling out the woodwork to target one of our players this season?

 

I think people are saying he is the worst CB they have seen due to his price tag maybe?

I think people are being clouded by his 4.6 million price tag, to be fair he is a million pound player all day long for me.

He is not worst but he could end up being one of the biggest flops, regarding price wise since the man from Brazil.

 

There was plenty of people giving it to the both of them last season. I would suggest looking in their threads again to see that.

 

No one is going to tell me Carl Starfelt is worse than Oliver Tebily.

That is brutal.

 

Scheidt takes the biscuit in that department easily. £5m in 1999 for 3 appearances. Inflation calculator says that's £8.8m in today's money. Off the top of my head, no one comes near Scheidt as pound for pound the worst defensive player in our history.

 

Not even close. Tebily was an absolute disaster waiting to happen almost every game at some point.

 

He was utterly atrocious. I dont know how he was a professional footballer. Obviously Rafael Scheidt will go down as our worst ever signing but Tebily for the amount of games he players was right up there.
