Feyenoord Jubilee Tournament

I thought he was one of the few who competed pretty well during the match. A lot of the players were getting bumped off the ball too easily(Brown, McGeady, Robson) but McDonald was winning freekicks in dangerous positions and tracked back well too. His touch is lacking a little and tbh has looked more threatening inside the box. I'm sure he'll come good though for next week.

 

zap them Dempsey. They standard of poster is definatley dropping here. Its full of hysterical people who have absolutley no perspective like they have never been through a few seasons and seen it all before.

There were long good spells of posession in the first hour. We deliberatley played it like an CL game against a side with better faster players - i.e. safety first and a bit negative. I think it was used as a CL home game practice match for when we play better sides. BOTH sides were cagey. For me the only differences were they have a couple of class acts and also we looked out on our feet after an hour.

One last thing - I dont think the team will ever be as positive as it could until we have two flying wingers. Guys like Naka and Robson are good players but not natural wingers. Bring back Maloney, switch Aidan right and play Shaun left.

 

I doubt the players were going in hard, players dont want to pick up injuries in preseason matches

I was a tad disappointed with McGeady's performance this evening - such are the high standards he set last season. Still, much like McDonald, you'd hope he'll be back up to where he was last season come next weekend.

 

One of the forgotten points about tonight is McManus picking up a groin injury, depending on how bad it is it might leave us sort on numbers.

Good point and it takes a lot from the likes of Robson's performance.

 

tbh i dont think Strachan 'trying new things out' had much bearing on the result/performance. Just look at the two line ups, we're light years behind them quality wise and it showed up on the pitch. Without 60,000 supporters acting as a twelth man we are a very ordinary team - apart from Boruc which of our players would get in their team? None.
