I think he has had a slow start under Ange but he has a lot of qualities and will adapt.
I think he will definitely benefit from the space others will create for him such as Abadas runs stretching the defence.
Also with players now making runs in behind more, he has the range of passing to find them. Look for him to kick on from here.

Guys still young mind, barely played two full seasons.
    If that.

Did he not break out in the second half of a season, we tried to sign him that summer, then he was out for s year before we signed him last summer?
Then he was poorly utilised for the first half of the season, and second half was a bright light in an otherwise dark season.

Him and Welsh are still vastly inexperienced to be fair to both of them. Both will go through hot and cold spells before finding consistency and performing at the top level for us.

Which I am sure Turnbull and Welsh both will do in a season or two.

I thought he showed his quality on the ball today was unlucky one of his strikes but particularly some of the passes he played from deeper in midfield, the one that set up the first goal for example but there was a few more very similar.

I think the key is going to be getting the right balance in the midfield depending on who we play. Games like today when we are at home on a big pitch against a team likely to finish in the bottom 6, we can afford to play a midfield three with a lot of creativity knowing we won’t be doing much defending.

Harder games away to Aberdeen or Tyncastle is where we should be looking to get the best out of James McCarthy and possibly Soro too, when we need to be stronger in there.

Mind you given the inverted full backs, if we bring in stronger players in those positions, having a more lightweight creative midfield can work too.

yeah lol passing back is not his game , he likes to get the ball forward but playing a little bit further back allows him to see more of the park allowing him to play better passes

Today Ange adapted to him, not the other way around. The less running he needs to do the more class he shows.

He’s one that’s going to fly under this regime, always was the case if you could add energy and pressing to his game he’d be a phenomenal talent.

I thought he was decent against Dundee, some of his passing through to the attacking players was very good. Maybe just taking a while to adjust to Ange's high energy and fast moving style of play.

Some of his passes over the top for our lads to run onto were like pitching wedges. Cut Dundee apart.

Yes the extra physical exertion has probably taken a toll on him which probably effected his quality ever so slightly. We all know that at this level a small drop in level can see a player out of form, but once his physical side catches up I can see Turnbull back to his usual self. You don’t lose the quality.

If he is ever going to want to go to another level then the physical attributes will need to meet his technical attributes.

I’m excited to see him over the course of this season. Has great vision which will help us unlock these packed defences we’ll face so often.

I thought he played his best football for some time at the weekend, like a new player.
