Just scored a hat trick on his competitive international debut, and had a perfectly good goal chalked off in his actual debut last week.

Decent returns under Ange and clearly knows we're the net is.


Entering the last 6 months of his contract now and has already issued a veiled "come and get me" Ange.

So thoughts?

A bang average boy having a good run, or has Ange unearthed something?

 

Unsure what to make of him..

From his highlight reels he looks average with his first touch but he's quick, just breaking in to the Japan first team now, getting capped so could be a late bloomer..

Looks like he could be decent in the air and for a nominal fee with his contract running down, he could be a decent option..

25 and the manager knows him, plus it's a position we need beefing up..

Get him in on the cheap, don't touch that diddy from Sunderland and spend some decent money on a main number 9..

 

If he's available for free, I think it's a no brainer to bring him in tbh, it's someone who Ange has worked with before, and as others have said it looks like he's a bit of a late bloomer.

Having this guy come on for the last 30-20 minutes during a game would be useful imo.

Looks decent enough for a freebie. In that first video he looks like he's playing as a 10, all his runs seem to be from quite deep. Wonder if he was and converted to a striker or that's just him dropping deep.

 

Watching those video's again and the positives seem to be

Gets in to good position's
Looks mobile
Good in the air
Can finish
Seems to be a late developer type on current form/first national cap this year

First touch and being able to adapt out of Japan for a club the size of us are a concern..

Warming to the idea of him coming in..

His goal scoring record is extremely poor club level.

Really not sure about him.

 

Getting Mo Bangura flashbacks from that highlights video. Most of his goals are tap ins, or bouncing off him and in.

26 this year and he’s only had 2 prolific seasons in Japan. Not convinced at all.

 

Saw his goals on YouTube. Alright goals. Missed a sitter, fluffed it.

 

He seems to have been playing very deep until Postecoglou, hence the better returns.

But I'm still very unsure about him. There's tonnes of examples of even world class strikers having poor returns until a manager stepped and played them in a more natural position. But that's usually earlier than 25 years old.

Worst case he's a freebie and might shift some shirts in Japan.

 

I think we have to remember that Nakamura was a superstar in Japan. Not every Japanese player we sign will result in a major merchandise boost for that market.
