Not about being a #RealFan bud, no need to be smarmy. A fan’s a fan. I just personally don’t believe in slaughtering a guy and his players from the moment he steps in the building. I don’t see what’s to be gained from that. The board, yes. Lennon when he held the club to ransom for the guts of 5 months, if fans had been in the stadium then, then I certainly would’ve been vocal about my disapproval and I would’ve understood others’ decision to do the same.

Ridiculous. Things like this aren't helpful.
Its backward * like that from experienced fans like yourself are whats wrong with football today.

It's one Ange in the first line, then the two.

Im no Celtic fan but as an Aussie im excited for this move. I understand Celtic fans doubts as he has 'never managed in Europe', but so what. Since when was managing in Europe a prerequisite to being good? The other common question is 'what has he won'. Well domestic leagues in Australia and Japan, as well as the 2015 Asian Cup which is the Asian version of the Euro's. Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Iran are no mugs, especially Japan and South Korea who have very good national teams. We also should have beaten the Netherlands in the 2014 World Cup but lost a 2-1 lead to lose 3-2. This was the Netherlands team that made the final. Ange encouraged the players to take them on, unlike the former manager who thought because we are football minnows we should cower in fear and be happy to lose 2-0. Ange wont be intimidated. The guy is fearless

Sure there is risk, but it offers a fair risk reward. I can assure you there is a potential pay off to this appointment. Another thing about Ange, is he has been a strong proponent of Australian football and he he gets the role, part of his drive will be to put Australia on the map as whilst we have had players like Viduka, Cahill, Kewell, Schwarzer do well, there is a stigma about Australian football - everyone thinks were rubbish. He does have a chip on his shoulder about this & if you bring up his Australian nationality as an argument against him, he will get wound up and wont hold back. He does fancy himself as an ambassador for Australian football and he wont relinquish this role.

There are also rumours he likes a drink before the game & former players have eluded to being able to smell the scotch on his breath as he calmly offers advise (he isnt a yeller and wont be shouting at players or the referee). After the Asian Cup win the team was invited to Kirribilli House to meet the Prime Minster but Ange wore his sunglass inside......

I guess, but my expectations would be higher for a better manager. I'd expect Howe to do better. Or Queiroz.

Our board cannot be trusted. They may well get Ange to sign and be the new manager but on what conditions? Will he be allowed to bring his own coaching team ? Will he be promised the players that he wants? If Kennedy and Strachan take pre season training and even the first qualifiers before Ange arrived would our board then move them on or give them lesser roles at the club? They will most likely be staying as a cheap option. We have a number of players to replace and prob some that will now want away because of the boards dithering. If Ange does come in I can see him going in December, not because of poor results but because our Board going back on what they promised him, just like they promised us a manager review before the end of the year and a promise to restructure. Our boards inability to act could cost us a couple of seasons to recover whilst handing CL group stage qualification on a plate to the Huns. Ange,if he does come in is not the suppprters choice by far, including mine , but he will get full backing. If he fails then it will be the Boards doing.

You’ve pretty much summed up why this will be an inadequate appointment.

I get the impression that this board still don't realise how * off people are that they handed away the title last season

Regarding the conditions, I just had a thought: what if the board allow Postecoglou his preferred staff, on the condition that he must work with a very small transfer budget? @honda pointed out he's only spent 1.5 M pounds in his entire career on players. He may be a yes man even with his own staff in.

Last season we reached new lows in terms of unprofessionalism at the club, looks like the Board are intent on ensuring that this will continue.

He must know the task and size of the rebuild ahead of him. Agreeing to take the job on a restricted small budget would indicate he is a yes man and abide with what the Board say. He would be taking the job because of the prestige of it, it will be his first big time job. He will feel too good a job to turn down whatever the conditions and what the restrictions are.

I understand frustrations, it's going to be a woeful appointment but i hold that strictly against the board not Ange.

We can all see on paper that this is ridiculous gamble that most likely end in tears. I don't hold that against Ange's decision to take the job. Every person in the world has a right to back themselves for success. I will get behind Ange and hope my low expectations of him are proven to be well wide of the mark. I certainly won't be singing for him to get the * out of the club from the off.

The songs should be directed at the board to * off. They are the one in charge of job offers. By offering Ange the job they are in effect saying we cannot find anyone better or alternatively we cannot make this job look like an attractive one. If it's because they cannot sell the Celtic job to prospective managers then the board is worse than I first feared. The Celtic job should appeal to most high profile managers in football. I honestly think and fear it's something in the setup or transfer budgets that prevents the likes of Howe taking the job.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the blame here lies with the board. Not with the man that accepted the job.

Finally, if Ange proves us wrong and goes on to do a golden job for us, make no mistake about it, the board got lucky. 9/10 this sort of gamble backfires.

They supposedly had security in on Friday cos of the Howe news was going to break and told everyone working at CP to leave that day before it broke. So they know alright

They are still out of touch in terms of timing and response..... a few months ago they might have needed those precautions.

Now.. there is such apathy and acceptance of the sorry state the club (not plc) is in... that not even the Green Brigade can be arsed turning up to fire a bit of flak or hang a banner never mind a spontaneous (or organised) demonstration from supporters.

Maybe there’s just too much comedy to be had from this and we are all just waiting to see what jaw-dropping stupidity emanates from CP with each new day.

"The Asian equivalent of the Euros". Tahiti won the Oceania 'equivalent of the Euros' and Papa New Guinea made the most recent final could anyone tell me anything of there managerial credentials ?. Even if we are so * bent on using this Asian equivalent of the euros line then Ange was basically in charge of Germany
