    Get a proper setup and a promising manager/head coach in place and give these players who can still be convinced that their careers can develop here, something to stay for.

    Do that, then throw £30k a week at Ajer and give him the armband.


    If we can't convince him to stay, then it would be natural then to give it to McGregor. Not sure anyone else in the side deserves it at all, or has shown any real leadership other than these two.

    Mcgregor or Ajer if we can convince him to stay, the days of captains getting into battles with everyone are gone imo. Now its about leading by example.

    If somehow Ajer could be persuaded to sign a new deal and stay it should be him IMHO. Not even close for me if that scenario came to pass.

    The squad really lacks leaders. I have no problem with McGregor being the captain, as long as we have vocal players on the pitch.

    Ajer is the standout right now but he'll be gone in the summer. After that it's slim pickings.

    McGregor is more vocal than some might think, seen him barking at players plenty of times. Ajer will be away sadly so he's the only choice really - Jullien won't be back for a while by the sounds of things.

    Jullien is never a captain in a million years ffs and tbh neither is Ajer. 6 fit 4 behemoth that refuses to use his frame in the opposition box.

    A guy his size should be scoring half a dozen minimum a season but in reality much more given the volume of balls we stick in the box from set pieces. At least big Jullien (as well as Duffy) will wipe out folk in their path, Ajer just refuses to do it. It’s actually the next big step he has to make in his development before he can become a top centre half.

    Callum McGregor is the only option imo. Ever present and played over 300games. Can it really be anybody else? Leads by example and ultimate professional. It would be a shock if it was anyone else.

    We all (think we) know that Ajer’s leaving, but in the very unlikely event that he stays, he’s a stick-on.

    If not, sign someone and hand it to them. McGregor a decent vice-captain, but that’s a different role to captain, and I’m just not convinced he’s got it about him.
