I did say midweek he was looking for an exit.

100% Celtic could and probably should have done more to keep him here.

But, as I said on Monday, I also heard his attitude at times was something that the coaches weren't very pleased with.

I hadn’t realised the Austrian Corporate plague on football had reached New York...

... even an Austrian manager to keep things ethnically tidy for themselves.

Makes me feel quite despondent any time I see their name associated with football.

I hear this quite often about our young players now. Assuming it’s true, I wonder how much is genuinely a bad attitude from the player themselves, and how much is a legitimate gripe.

I think everyone has a limit, in whatever line of work you’re in. If I’m a young footballer at a club struggling majorly on and off the pitch, watching the first team stumble from one result to another without me getting a look in, just watched the U18’s get furloughed, with no proper league system to play in or pathway in the first XI.....I’m looking to leave if a decent opportunity comes along.

Bad attitude is just a number of excuses for Lennon not playing players

I think it can go both ways. No doubt a player can have a bad attitude, but equally a player can begin to develop a * attitude when they aren’t given the opportunity to develop.

Basically you can’t just expect a talented young player to be patient indefinitely.

Yeah if they are not in a u23s league we should be giving them shots or arranging loans for them. Dembele, Harper and Connell have never been given loans. Why the * young players come here is beyond me.

Few promising young lads have been leaving. Can’t really blame them when they never get a chance unless we have about 16 players out. We would play a guy in mid 30s every week, doesn’t matter if it’s Aberdeen, St Mirren or Morton in the cup.

    100% this!

Goes for every part of employment as nobody goes to work first day hating it and resenting the boss.

Leaders are turned into deadwood after too many negative encounters.

In saying that, get to * wee man we have bigger problems :56:

Granted it was his first game but i didn't really see him have anything that we would miss. Could see why he's not been given a chance to be honest. Obviously 1 game isn't enough to be calling him * though.

But why haven't guys like him been found loans to get them learning? The club has done nothing to develop players in our squad. It's nearly 2 years since Lennon came back and no young uns have been developing under him except Frimpong.

Makes you wonder why we don't have reciprocal agreements with certain clubs to give each other access to youth talent depending on gaps in each others squads. Often loan moves seem haphazard and last minute.

Leaving developing talent to chance is just squandering it.

How many of those players that left have went on to do well at a good-ish level though?

I agree about Connell. Not sure what’s going on with that one as he has already performed at a good level for Bolton.

However, guys like Harper trying to call the shots after a performance like the other night seems a bit bizarre to me. He looked way out of his depth and that is a boy at 19 (granted, it is only one game).

There is no doubt that guys at 19 are still developing, but they still need to have the ability first in order to make an impression of sorts at first team level.

For context, Ajer, Edouard and Dembele all made their debuts for us at 19 and hit the ground running.

I agree that the academy hasn’t been good enough for some time now. But, for me, that is why we shouldn’t be forcing players into the first team for the sake of it.

Those three are 16/17 years old and at Bayern and City. We don’t know yet how good they’ll go on to be. But the point is they were highly rated, and jumped at the first chance they could to leave us.

How is Harper trying to call the shots? If he’s asking for guarantees of first team football then he’s well within his rights. Why would he sign a new contract if he isn’t going to get on the pitch at all? He’s 19 now. Every single 19 year old in football should be doing the same thing when they have interest from elsewhere. Get the guarantee of game time before committing to anywhere.

Ajer and Dembele had been playing first team football elsewhere for a couple of seasons before we signed them. Eddy had been out on loan at Toulouse and he didn’t go straight into our team. He was a back up for months before making his mark.

Harper should have been loaned out already to get minutes under his belt elsewhere. Then given some minutes with us here and there to see how he does. Not thrown in to a team low on confidence with little support up top.

I find it strange how Harper has been getting slated for his performance the other night when guys like McGregor and Rogic were just as bad. To judge him on that single game is laughable.

Incompetence on a scale not seen since the 90s is why.
