Looked mobile enough but quite small. Pinged one noteworthy pass out to the full back. Still couldnt gauge what his potential role in the team might be.

I like him. Has a lot of qualities. Quick. Decent enough so far on the ball and positive. Doesn't take any prisoners either..

Positioning needs work but that's to be expected. It'll come..

    Plenty to work with..

Looks a nippy wee player and sharp in the tackle.

Hope he gets a few run outs.

I like him but the one criticism I have is when the opposition have the ball sometimes when he’s not closing down he literally just stops and stands still watching them. Just found it a bit odd

Seemed to stray on to the wings too much and some of the match passed him by, could hear Lenny shouting at him back and forth to hold the middle but would like to see him in a team with more first team regulars around him to see what he's really all about.

edit: just read that back and it sounds a bit more negative than I intended, got high hopes for the wee man and hopefully he pushes on and becomes a first team mainstay in future.

Need to remember he was up against guys that have more game time and are a level above what he'll be facing most games. Even when Brown, McGregor & Christie came on you could see they Lyon midfielders were good players.

Didn't actually think he looked fast at all. He was slow chasing back on a number of occasions.

I wasn’t very impressed with him, has a lot of improving to do to be a first team player for us.

Hit the nail on the head here.

Im guilty of wanting us to buy ready made players but the reality is we can’t afford them.

We need to buy guys with good attributes and potential and mould them into better players. Edouard was nowhere near the level he is now when he arrived.

The videos before he signed made him look like Kante, he’s got all the attributes to be that type of player.

Defo needs to improve but I quite like him.

2.5mil is a lot for 'plenty to work with'. Maybe thats the market rate is these days. Virgil was 2.5 mil. Maybe 2.5 mil was 500k 5/6 years ago. I'd take a finished article starter, like Julien, over 2 'plenty to work withs'; Soro, Klimala etc.

Thought he and Klimala were the only positives. He won posession back a few times, some great passes from deep in our own half and looked to recieve the ball and turn and advance very quickly. He doesn't fall under the 'a lot to work with' category for me. He is more than good enough to be starting in one of the two deeper roles.

Yeah I find if worrying that a £2.5m player is having to be coached all through the game on basics like positioning.
Lennon was on at him and Bolingoli the whole time they were on the pitch.

When you consider teams like Aberdeen are wanting £5m or something like that for McKenna, is it any wonder you only get guys with potential for £2.5m ?

Obviously there will be times you do get lucky but unfortunately 9/10 times the player will need to work on certain aspects of their game.

Remember we had to pay £6m for Jullien and £9m for Edouard. We can only pay that for one or two players then the rest are gambles at a fraction of that cost.
