Jezza corbyn, boris & trump disprove that theory mate :86:

Seriously though I do agree in principle with what you've said, I can obviously understand folk being annoyed so am I, so maybe if they are convinced her replacement would be as good as her, then yes the FM could sack her, as it sends out a clear message, but if they cant be sure of that then sacking her, while knowing/suspecting that the replacement would/could be less capable wouldn't be very wise either. So the FM/Government will have to take a pragmatic approach in deciding what to do, that's my point ST.

Anyway I see the dot joiners are sniffing about now, sadly not out of any concern for folk but to simply just stir things as usual, so reasonable discussion on this will likely get pulled down a level or 10, such is life :giggle1:

Anyone watching this press conference thing?

Car crash. Very "politician" answers forthcoming, dancing around it and keep rewording questions and answering about "no justification" etc. Very poor imo. We have also found out she has done it twice, this weekend and last weekend.

Asked "did she offer resign?" - not answered (TWICE)

Asked "how can we trust her now?" - not answered

Asked "you said there was a reason for the trips, what was the reason?" - not answered

Asked "she has done it twice? Is that unlawful according to the Coronavirus Act? Was she fined?" - not answered

Asked "she said she went to 'check' on the property, why did the children / whole family go?" - not answered

So that’s the defence then is it, if the police catch you sunbathing in the park etc? I’m pretty good at my job, and I’ve been busy the last couple of weeks. I wonder if that would work for average Joe Bloggs.

Scandalous handling of this situation by the Scottish Government as well.

That was my take from it as well. It can't be one rule for me and another for you.

Calderwood * up big time but I find the jump on her almost as bad. The tone is one you would aim at a rapist or a murderer.

The next fortnight is going to be * painful for thousands of people losing loved ones, I could care less about shouting abuse at a woman that * up and immediately realised how badly.

I can’t see the rapist / murderer comment parallels.
Hearing now she did it twice (is that right?) & the immediately realised how badly comment & her apology was only when it was found out.
Don’t think she offered anything until she was caught out.

I agree that in tough times we shouldn’t be pouncing on each other’s mistakes and made this point yesterday.
However, if anyone should be leading by example it’s the CMO and she has only apologised because she was caught.
Fairly sure you said anyone who broke social distancing rules was a selfish *.

Mate, you’re the guy that literally yesterday stated that folk shouldn’t be hounded by the media for driving to take their dug a walk in a park...

Last weekend and this weekend. Out of order and she should probably lose her job as a result...

Her apology means * all, only saying it because she got found out, she has no credibility and has to go, that press conference was a total disaster for the first minister.

She went twice on successive weekends, i think that tells it's own story.

I know and you said that anyone who breaks the rules is a selfish *.
Now you’re upset that the CMO is getting abuse for breaking those very rules.

People need to calm the * down. Jesus.

She made a mistake, that can't be denied. But by all accounts she's very good at her job, so sacking her now given what's going on would be ridiculous.

Finding the reaction to it absolutely embarrassing. Expected it from the Twitter unionists who look for any opportunity to have a go at anything or anyone Scottish, mind.

The valuable expertise excuse doesn’t wash..,

She’s flouted the rules that she’s preaching and expects everyone else to follow. It gives fuel to the growing sense that the ‘measures’ are not quite for everyone.

There’s plenty high end medical expertise out there...

Set an example and get her punted. It would actually be seen as a mark of strength and Not an endorsement of double standards.

The woman should have resigned if she had any decency.
