I do feel for Allan a bit as well. He’s right that he never really got a chance, albeit he ultimately isn’t good enough.

SCOTT ALLAN claims he was a victim of the John McGinn transfer saga involving Hibs and Celtic.

Allan signed a pre-contract to return to Easter Road for a third spell in January.

But the Hoops REFUSED to let him leave Parkhead early, much to the player’s frustration.

And the midfielder puts that down to the animosity between the clubs after Celtic’s failed move for John McGinn, now at Aston Villa, a year ago.

Allan – who claims he wasn’t treated professionally by the Scottish champions – said: “I just assumed it would happen because I was surplus to requirements.

“There were other factors, obviously between the two clubs. It just wasn’t to be.

“I wanted to leave. But the fact I wasn’t allowed to was between the two clubs

I think the issue was the history between them, definitely. I was just caught in the middle.


“On the plus side, everything I have been through has helped to make me a better person and a better player.

I know that sounds weird because I haven’t been playing every week, but I can take a lot from those experiences moving forward.

“I just wanted to come somewhere where I am appreciated by the fans and have a decent relationship with the people and the hierarchy here.”

 

Probably truth to that, but I wonder if he was prepared to take the wage cut 6 months early, or was still asking us to subsidise the difference?

 

Signed him to get one over on the Zombies. Wasted time here, shame cause he can be a good player at times.
