    Hi guys,
A completely hypothetical question now, not another pile-on thread. But... If we were 100% guaranteed to see every penny reinvested in players, but at the expense of butchering our team, would you be in favour?

In the scenario; KT, McGregor, Forrest and ntcham are all sold for a collective of about £90m. In return we look at getting in 9 £10m players, or 10 £9m, would you do it?

It seems pretty straightforward growth, but given we'd be pulling out the main 'Celtic men' for effort and gambling on a whole new team, as well as letting go of a lot of fan favourites (except ntcham). It's 9iar, and is this the time for radical change?

    Would you do it?

(Or some other butchery/rebuild of the team, if you prefer)

I asked for the hypothetical situation, not the unfortunate reality... :87:

Fact is we continually die a death of a thousand cuts, losing 1 or 2 of our best to gambled development. Would you take a beating to ALL of our best, to gamble on wholesale growth, despite our personal attachments to the players.

10 million gets you Scott McKenna these days. For me its important the nucleus of the squad are Celtic supporters/Scottish and know what it means to play for the club.

    Nah.

Trying to replace KT, McGregor and Forrest alone in one go would be impossible and devastating to this team.

Cannot be arsed. KT must stay. Arsenal can * off. £90m gets you a one year KT loan, you gotta return him for the 10. Cannot be * losing any more top players, regardless of cash. Sentimentality ftw. It’s Monday and the weathers *.

We are incapable of signing 10 players at any cost. Also the wage bill would unsustainable. We need to keep the squad together and strengthen the areas needed it's that simple.

    Would sell ntcham tho.

Wouldn't take 100 million for KT right now and im not kidding. We'll never see it reinvested sufficiently in the squad. I actually have less confidence in the board now after 3 years of domestic dominance than I did 10/15 years ago. I was never a board supporter, who is but didnt always agree with the hate they got. Recently my opinion has changed. Whenever we look like we are on the cusp of something it feels like they reign it back in. We need someone with the foresite to realise our worldwide potential. It feels like this board are very comfortable operating within the confines of the domestic scene and are very happy with our glass ceiling at the minute.

Or to cut to the chase... there feels like a serious lack of ambition.

No, because even if we did get £90 million we'd be lucky to see 10 to 20% of that reinvested in the team.

Then you need to find the wages for 10 £9 million players.

If we sell our key players, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be able to replace them with the money we get in - so what’s the * point?

If you sold your house, and used the entire money to buy another house, do you think this would be a good deal?

No, you have the bother with moving, disruptions, potential extra costs, and with the housing market the way it is, you certainly would struggle to buy something as good in the same area as it would depend on finding someone willing to sell it, which gets progressively harder the better your deal was. You know your old house, you know it doesnt have leaks, stuff needing maintenance, the new house have a full range of potential surprises. It is exactly the same thing with players, with some added complications.

So even hypothetically it doesnt pay off.
