The JCM 800 is an amazing, iconic amp. I have a JCM 800 2202 KK, which is the Kerry King signature model, it is a beast. Luckily, I live in the suburbs and can crank it in my music room with no fear of bothering anybody...needless to say, I don’t crank it when my wife is home, lol.

Is your Tokai a made in Japan model? As the Japanese Tokai Love Rocks are fetching a really good price and are super collectible.

Casinos are great, the perfect guitar to noodle on, unplugged or plugged.

I’ve got a Seagull acoustic I’m considering selling because I never play it, it’s just taking up space. I just always play my electrics.

Don’t think the Tokai is - I got it used about 10 years ago for about £350. My Mrs got me it for Christmas one year.
I might look up the serial and see as I know back then they were quite pricey new and had a reputation as being better built than Gibson’s at the time.
    If I’m sitting with a guitar worth £1500 I’ll * the bed :56:

Once saw an old boy with real Les Paul playing in a pub with a weird looking strap. Was like one of those baby carriers :56:
Said it was coz he had played one for 30 odd years and he reckons its caused him to develop scoliosis which is curvature of the spine :56:

Also one of the weirdest musical experiences I’ve had was jamming with a guy at an open mic night and the * had really * up fingers on his strumming hand.
After playing a few numbers * was bleeding all over the shop and I asked him if he was ok. Said it’s fine as he has no sensation in his hand from nerve damage when he was a kid and fell in a fire so just used to batter his guitar with his gammy hand :giggle1:

Yeah, it would be good for you to know! The Chinese made Tokais usually start with a “CN” prefix serial #, and they’re great instruments, but the Japanese Tokais have really taken off in price, those are the ones you can try to get a return on!

HAHAHA yeah I reckon ye need a good bit of scaffolding to hold up a non routed Les Paul, ye could prolly take out a brick wall with one of them (or better still ..Ibrox ).
    " If I’m sitting with a guitar worth £1500 I’ll * the bed :56:"

LOL just make sure the guitars not on the bed at the time :fear:

So, I’ve searched and searched online and from what little I’ve found...it appears that Jem Jr.’s have different scratch plates...but I’m still trying to find more info...

That's a shame, I guess coz it's not the big expensive Jem the parts are cheaper, and of less quality, probably some design differences too seeing as the scratch plate seems to be different.
However, I found this vid on youtube a direct comparison of both, you've no doubt seen it already anyway, but i noticed he mentioned he was going to change the hardware, pups and scratch plate to the same as the * version so perhaps you can just swap them !

    have a look here

Yeah i'm afraid that's the downside of the gigging life, your gear can get damaged a lot, i've had transformers blow out due to * electricity at venues, actually had that happen to my marshall Pre on 3 occasions.
Also had a friend who built himself a new full pedal board with a little edge around it so if it got accidentally kicked they wouldn't fall off the board, BUT that didn't help when some steamer tripped over it and fell dropping 2 pints of beer into it, so it was swirling all around the board ...ouch !

That must be a pain in the * especially if you've went to the trouble of trying to protect the pedals, I like this thread you guys are very enthusiastic about your guitars and amps, had a boyfriend years ago who played and had valve amps sounded great when he played

@greengrocer : * i'm sorry to hear that, getting yer stuff nicked is even worse, I was lucky as that never happened to me but the bass player in the band got his Fender Jazz Bass nicked at the end of a gig, we never saw anything or anyone near the gear either it just kinda vanished in the air, he never did get it back, I ended up selling him my Peavey Bass...so wish i didn't now tho coz it was great for recording it really came through the mix.

@bagforlife : IKR it's not like the pedals are cheap either some are what you'd call classics too, they still make them but the real good chips inside them are no longer made so the sound is different, after the guy spilled the beer into them they looked more like boats in a harbour floating on the water...sheesh.
I know what you mean about the valve amp sound for sure, there is a warmth off them that Solid State/Transistor amps just can't quite reach, nice warm, creamy tones, also the speakers used (Celestion Greenbacks are a huge favourite here) and the pickups on the guitar really make it all happen.

@bassbhoy : Hi, welcome, yeah i wish we could all afford good hi-end gear, unfortunately I find here in Scotland if you want a good made in USA guitar it's actually cheaper to buy a return flight to the US buy a guitar or two over there and bring them back than it is to export them directly, they add ££££ shed loads on for good guitars for example most floyd rose style guitars do not actually come with real floyds here, they are all licenced as floyd rose patents they are just copies, so much so that my B C Rich Warlock is currently undergoing a heavy hardware upgrade, I just ordered a new schaller Lockmeister Trem better made and more stable than real floyds and a set of Sperzel locking machine heads.
The Les Pauls are just stupid money and not anywhere near as good as they used to be, i.e. before 2006, here a good LP costs just under 2k i see the new 2018 LP Standard is £2999. 3 grand no way.
But it's cool you guys can get good ones over there cheaper than we can.
    regards scuzzy.

I couldn’t find anything definitive, it’s a virtual crapshoot wether or not it will fit, but it’s not my first rodeo making a pickguard fit! Lol...I’ll send you a message and we’ll do a Trans-Atlantic repatriation of the guard! It’s worth a shot...plus, it’ll make for a great little forum-inspired guitar aesthetic project!
