It was Congerton. He tried to have Compper signed when he was at Hamburg and Sunderland too, but neither of those clubs would sanction the move.

That doesn't say much about our club and how much 'faith' we put in him. He needs hauled over some hot coals for some of his signings and attempted signings.
The fear is that Congerton is a Rodgers appointment, so is Rodgers happy with this?

I doubt Rodgers is happy with Compper. I don’t see any benefit Congerton brings, so I’d have to question Rodgers’ judgement on him.

It's just amazing that no one in the media seems to ask Brendan anything about the guy. Probably go down as one of the biggest long term duds we've had in our history

That’s what I mean, I’d question Rodgers’ judgement on Congerton.

Agreed. The person responsible should do what Compper can't do.

I'm so racist, when I first heard he was German I automatically classed him as comfortable on the ball with great sense of positioning and a commanding presence directing the whole defence as a unit and winning the Balon d'Or in such style it fascinated Messi who decided this is where he wanted to spend his last years, no salary, just a few 4 year season tickets for his charity work. And Lawwell said sorry Leo El Lion, thanks for your interest in Celtic Football Club but no can do, there's a big queue for tickets. All the best finding a club in the future, now following you on Instagram, oh wait sorry that's my camera, now following you. Why does that sound like a drug vending site?

Now I'm convinced he's not German at all but Martian and he had already booked the flight and Brendan said ok because when a new signing says is it ok if I still go on the holiday I've booked, you kinda think a couple weeks relaxing in Tenerife can only be good.

Seriously though, how can Congerton be so bad with our respectable budget and why on earth did Brendan think he could adjust? Was he with him at Swansea I take it?

Did Parks get head hunted or just run out of sources?

Brendan was keen on signing Compper, he invited him to breakfast to discuss the deal. Congerton had a big say in it. He was given a 2.5 year contract on a good salary until summer of 2020, a player who has only played 260 times in his career and is very injury prone. He of course has no resale value.

I believe this is what has upset Lawwell, with his accountancy soul, & really you can' t blame him.

I have found it difficult to understand what's happening at Celtic, but I think this signing, along with others is a big part of it. Brendan knows he made a mistake with Compper & he must feel a bit guilty. I have read he offered his resignation in June.

Whether or not that's true' it seems to be the case that he and Lawwell are hardly on speaking terms.

The way things are going we may not win the League, and if that other mob win it, that would be just about the bitterest pill I've ever had to swallow.

Wish I could suggest a way out of this mess but I haven't a clue.
