Didn’t spot this post last night.

    Sums it up perfectly.

  2. Doogs.

Doogs. Lustig your the one, you still turn me on.

    * boycotts noo! :56:

Who are we, the * huns?

We never had ambitions as a CL team at board level, it was clear as day when we’re getting * off Barca and PSG by 6 and 7 goals and nothing was done about it.

  3. This thread is pathetic and beyond parody.

Not having the luxury of rocking up to Celtic park anytime I want, I would not be boycotting anything.
Getting to a game, any game means too much. Flights, hotels, time of work or school if I'm bringing the kids. I quite fancy a Europa league match this year.
Any of you stay at home Tim's wanna give me your tickets while you protest I'll gladly take them :50:

Why boycott, I want to see us fight for qualification and to see how far we can go.

  6. Tickets prices will be interesting as will the attendances now.....the board might have to resell the disco lights

  7. Anyone who boycotts the Europa League is a joke and can go watch that mob in Govan because that's what you are!

Some folk have got comfy the last few years, if you think this is tough times you can't have been following Celtic very long!

    Faithful through and through!

  8. Never accept boycotts, however the actual interest in this in minimal now.

Throw in the Thursday and Sunday games right up until january is *,end off....and lets be honest the EL only becomes interesting in the knockout stages.

A boycott would solve nothing nor improve anything. Every Tim is obviously disappointed we didn't get through but if you detach yourself and look at the league we play in and the budget we have then there's no reason to think we should automatically qualify for the CL every year. Better teams than us have already been knocked out and will be knocked out in the next round. Would we expect say a Belgian or Croatian side to just waltz through the qualifiers every time? Even though i thought we were the better team over 2 legs against AEK and would be fairly confident of getting past Videoton in my heart i know this group of players isn't good enough to compete with the stronger CL sides. Maybe it's for the best we have to settle for Europa league football(hopefully).

I get the lure of a boycott, I get that many fans feel taken for granted by the board and want to be able to make a statement that they can't ignore and one that actually impact them. Problem is, it's very hard to do this without impacting the team too. I do agree that some form of pre-game protest wouldn't go amiss. Not wild, pooing-the-bed-with-frustration, toys oot protesting, just a civil, coherent 'we're not happy and we know you are to blame' kind of thing. If nothing else, rather than BR having to talk through the media, we should have a Board rep come out and talk to the fans. Admit they need to do more.

  11. Europa League Home Attendances 2015/16:

    Fenerbache 41,330
    Molde 37,071
    Ajax 44,118

A fair section of our support just won't turn up. That's the reality. Most won't be making a conscious decision to 'boycott' but

  12. Anyone who thinks about boycotting the Europa league has no business supporting Celtic as far as im concerned. We've had it all our own way for years now and at the first sign of a bump in the road and people calling for a boycott of one of the premier tournaments. Farcical. Fine, its not the Champions league, but its still a great place to be in. The sense of entitlement some of our fans have is shocking. I'm wagering most of them didn't grow up through that lots 9 in a row either.

  13. My concern is that there will now be no investment in the squad (... no CL $$$ dosh etc,...) and we will get brutally shown up by one (or two) of the many quality sides in the Europa league ( and theres lots !) but without the consolation of a huge CL cash windfall at the end. Hope Im wrong.

  15. Looking forward to it tbh. More likely not to suffer any more 5-0 home losses or concede 7 away. The Europa League has a lot of quality teams now though make no mistake about it, we'll be doing very well to make it out of any group. Making the Last 16 (EL 2nd Knockout Round) has to be the goal, as it would at least be an improvement on how far we've gotten in European competition in the last 5 years.

See to be fair, we still need to make it into the Europa first!
Personally, I think a boycott would be lame and childish and wouldn't solve anything.
EL is more our level anyway and like others have said, we probably won't be getting spanked in it like the CL and also an opportunity for some fresh and interesting match ups.
I might struggle to make Thursday 6.05 kick offs and I'd imagine others will be the same but certainly not making a conscious decision to boycott.

  18. As an aside, the CL group stage games are moving to a similar format with games at both 5.55pm and 8.00pm from this season onwards.

You should be thanking Mr Lawwell for that extra 10 mins
