I actually like Man U as a club and I don't grudge them their success as they play fantastic football. I do get a bit annoyed with their support coming from all parts of the country BUT the same is true of Celtic.

i agree about our fans coming from all over the place but the difference is they're scottish and irish so will always support the hoops no matter where they live but if i was from london i'd support as club from there as oppossed to man united

Yeah i admire their football too. What annoys me is that Mancunians seem to have been priced out of going to see them, so a large portion of their support are from the rich counties in South England, obviously pot-hunting. I don't think the same can be said of Celtic fans, as the majority of attendees are Glaswegian.

I think it's a bit difficult for us, who are kinda 'natural' Celtic supporters, to tell guys in Asia, USA or wherever, where they don't have a 'natural' team, not to support Man U.

But lots of folk around Scotland support Celtic too. It's a tricky one.

No matter what big club it is, if they went a few years without winning anything you would see their support dwindle with just mainly the true support left.

lads , lads - listen yea we have support world wide , as do you , but we have thousands every week from manchester going to old trafford, and yes it has gone up in price since the galzers took over , but we certenly are not the dearest by a long chalk , the main season ticket holders allocation come from south manchester as do man city - dont believe the * about it being all london - manchesters red and always will ne

Man utd have a very similar history as Celtic. Newton Heath were set up as an Irish social club by Irish immigrant navvies working on the Manchester ship canal. Man U would not employ a non catholic manager until in the early 80s Lawrie McMenemy turned them down and no other manager fitted the bill. Hence Ron Atkinson arrived as the first non "bead rattler"!! In any event, Manchester was a liberal immigrant friendly city, unlike Glasgow, and Man Utd had no reason to retain an Irish identity. 2nd and subsequent generations of Irish immigrants assimmilated and quickly became English. As it should be!!!

that was a bit of an eye opener for me, had no idea that they only had catholic managers before "big" ron or had any irish connection. bet most of their fans dont know it either!

Learn something new everyday:50: Thanks for that. Strange though how none of their fans have ever enlightened me with that, do most Man United fans know their history? :97: lol

Malta has the biggest Man U supporters club outside the UK. Over 3,000 members. I know the president personally. John Buttigigg and he is a personal friend of Sir Alex, Beckham and the Nevilles.
Been on the pish a few times with Beckham, Giggs and the Nevilles. * Maltese are fanatical.

I know some Mancs here and they are Man U fans but most Mancunians support City as far as I know.

To be a true Man U fan you have to be born in London or the Home Counties.:icon_mrgreen:
