Such a * competition now. Porto went on to win the champions league the next year. A team will never ever win the uefa cup then win the champions league the next year.

Think you'll all agree with me here that manchester is in for a treat. For the next hundred generations players will pass through Parkhead's gates to play football the Glasgow Celtic way. The fans will ensure that. That's all I'll ever ask as a fan, after all, going to a football match is supposed to be entertaining, and 9 times out of 10 Celtic entertain me.

 

thank * im a celtic fan!!!! that whats brutal yet again tonight i would actually be ashamed to support that we actually appreciate the game of football and the way it should be played. The stats dont lie drew with hibs in the cup REPLAY, drew with partick in the cup REPLAY, 180 mins against st johnstone to win on pens, won on pens after 180 mins against dundee united in the cis cup and then again tonight how long will this go on. 4 wins in like 12 games now in europe and theyre through to a final. Scandalous. Although have to admit the UEFA Cup is now a joke competition since that group came into force.

 

Porto where a great team then tbh us also, a few decisions over the tourneyments helped with there success but they were determined and had the never say die mentality which strachan seems to have unlike rangers with there sorry excuse for the game

Come on now, you're having a dig at zenit because Rangers have reached the final. If they'd be playing Bayern you couldn't even say that at all. Zenit beat Villareal, Marseille, and Bayern on their way there. Just because they got to the final does not make the uefa cup a * competition, just stupid logic. Simply because an outsider reaches the final does not mean it's a fluke or that the other clubs didn't care - they did. The uefa cup was very important for Bayern this year.

 

Funny enough, it was Celtic that destroyed those tactics as a commonly used practice. The Inter Milan coach, the Argentine Helenio Herrera, invented the style "Catenaccio" (which means Door Bolt) to grind out 1-0 league games. He was the same manager that had his tactics ruined in the 67 European Cup final. It worked for them for years, then along came a side that was all about the attack and the tactics were shown up. Teams stopped using it after the 67 final except in International games. A side that has a wide and varied attack can cut that style open and leave little room for reply.

It was little used after that date in European matches or in professional Leagues.

You can't take anything away from Zenit but Rangers have killed the game with their negative football. Scotland's shame indeed.

F**k Rangers and there UEFA Cup Run, would love them not to win it dont get me wrong but they are such a shower of lucky c**ts they probably will. But they must know themselves that it will never be as glorious as Seville.

As for the SPL being extended its a disgrace, they have bowed done to every Ranger request this season, I just pray to * that we win the league cause we have deserved it.

Who cares about their run. We beat a liverpool team on the way to Seville that won a champs league shortly after and we were beaten by porto who won the following years champs league. Don't even compare our run in '03 to theirs cos by doing so you are degrading our real achievements.
Petersburg are a good side make no mistake about that.
I will agree that this 'anti football' is a worry though

it would be easier to take if they atleast come out and played a game of football but the way which has gotten them there is a disgrace to say the least

i guess there is no point to playing good football if you cant/wont win like that,they simply would get humped off the park with any other style of play

pffft 9 defenders every game,if they are happy with that * then so be it but the world has saw them for what they are
