If everyone in the squad is fit: RB

At present with Boyata and Erik out: CB

Being greedy I'd like us to upgrade in both positions.

CB right now. I'd also like us to be looking for young players to possibly challenge lustig and gordon come january.

    Centre half.

    Keeper.

    No. 10.

Forgot to say RB next season as well.
I feel if we can get real quality in them areas we will be fantastic.

But we need cover first, main position is centre half, back up left back and a 3rd choice forward.

We can then look to bring in a new keeper and No.10 next season.

With everyone in the squad 100% fit it is the goalkeeper IMO.

    And it's not even close.

I think Gordon can keep the number 1 jersey for this season but his time as GK is ending and I think we need a new goalie come the summer next year.

For an assault in Europe, the defence needs strengthened. Jozo is the only CB I have confidence in at that level. Lustig lacks pace and we have no solid back up for RB/LB. so if we we get anyone in the door before the window shuts, I hope it's a defender of some sort.

    Everyone fully fit

    Gordon
    Lustig Jozo Boyata KT
    Brown Ntcham
    Roberts Rogic Sinclair
    Dembele

Griffiths, Forrest, Erik, Armstrong, De Vries, Kouassi, McGregor

This is a good team with Hayes Ralston Miller Ajer Benyu Bitton Gamboa also as options.
    Are things really that bad?
Every player in that squad can be improved upon obviously buts it's a case of can we attract better rather than like for like or squad fillers. I really thought the purse strings might be loosened a bit this summer and we'd see 5 players each in the 2-7 million range come in. We'll need a double digit points tally to finish second in our champions league group. To me there's no upgrades available at the moment that would significantly improve our chances more than this current squad has.

I'd like a keeper, not as a replacement but to compete with Gordon. With the focus Brendan has put on young players I'm surprised a young gk with potential hasn't been secured.
Ralston might be a long term replacement for Lustig but he's still learning. I'd like to see more of Gamboa to decide if we truly need to replace the hugely experienced Lustig.
With Coatzee not coming I guess Erik stays, I'm reasonably happy with Jozo and Boyata unless we're really splashing out on an experienced international, it's a good combination.
I would have kept Izzy. I'm very interested to see who slots in if KT gets injured.
No striker needed imo. Who of the standard we now demand will accept being a third choice? They both haven't got great inj records recently but maybe Roberts signing might allow Sinclair to be a central option while still having two very attack minded wide men in Roberts and Forrest.
My own personal preference would be to secure a creative central midfielder. That would by my only purchase if it were me.

This. I feel that's the area we most urgently need to strengthen.

CB is obviously a weakness, even with all fit..

Jozo is the best but even he is prone to the odd lack of concentration..

We need a quality addition in there before the end of the window, if we want to have an impact in Europe..

Lustig isn't a weaklink at RB he's one of our most important and experienced players and rarely gives the ball away..

It's not CB, CB has been solid recently except for when our starting 3 are out. Not saying we couldn't be doing with an upgrade but it's not the weakest

I voted RB. Wouldn't even consider it a weakness as such just that the other starters are better than Lustig when all fit

    Goof thread OP.

    Goalkeeper for me.

Gordon zero positioning, the footwork of david murray and is prone to brainfarts.

Ive never seen a keeper get beat at his near post as much as him.

As someboday already stated, we need a keeper who can organise a defence in front of him.

Sadly though, it seems he'll be offered no competition anytime soon.

Why a number 10? We have Rogic, Armstrong, mcgregor, Sinclair, Roberts, ntcham, griffiths, Forrest who could all play that role.

    CB for Europe.

No concerns in the SPL really but against better opposition I'm wary.

Definetly need another quality CB, especially for Europe. I wouldn't mind a fully fit back four of Lustig, Jozo, Boyata and Tierney going in against the big boys in the CL group, but its the back up at CB that worry me, if any of them are injured when the big games come. Erik (as much as I like him) is too mistake prone now, Ajer is still too much of a rookie to be risked at that level and Bitton can only cover at CB when the opposition is of a lower standard and the Hoops defence is not under constant pressure as Astana showed. I hope BR is looking to get somebody in before the end of the transfer window. I did think the full back areas would be a problem, but Ralston and Miller have shown they are more than ready to step in for the SPL games that sandwich the CL games to keep Lustig and Tierney well rested and fresh for Europe.

At this present moment it's definitely at CB. A fully fit squad and I'd say it's more likely RB or even GK.
