More risk investing in players with one-time cash like VVD money than with European qualification. Latter somewhat recurring, whereas former is not. Again, state that would be the better business decision, but board may be more willing to trust Brendan. In either event, wouldn't expect money to be spent this window.

If VVD does get sold then it would be disgraceful if we did not spend the full amount on a top CB.

Premier teams come looking - that player is an instant 40-60mil + 'sell on' at least,
otherwise these teams would not be wanting him to start with.

This is been happening for too long and needs to get nipped right in the bud.!!
Maybe if Celtic had put a 'sell on' of 50% minus what they got paid,
we'd still be lookin' at somewhere around ~25mil.

I would rather we spent some cash before this was getting announced. That way it looks like we have spent something.

Now if we get up to 10mi for him we will spend 4 or 5 mil max before deadline and one again the fans are shafted. Yes we are dominant in Scotland but why not give ourselves the best possible chance in europe?
