only positive i see from our dire 0-0 result in the first leg is that away goals count

IF we can get 2 goals over there i think we will go through... 1 goal and i really fear it will not be enough.
I've followed Celtic long enough to know that being put through the wringer is standard practice. It is also
known for us to shoot ourselves in the foot (with both barrels).. Broony nearly cost us in first leg and i just
hope that our defense don't do anything stupid over there

Not looking forward to the next leg.. and the group stages seems a very distant prospect on last nights showing

Playing Ntcham from the start now looks like a mistake but hindsight is a wonderful thing. He didn't do anything bad,
but, apart from one nice ball into the area i can't remember him doing much. Willing to put it down to match fitness

Still confident we can do this. Its half time and we haven’t conceded an away goal, which is positive. We will be another week fitter and have a better understanding of their tactics and set up. We can't be as poor as last night but in the same thought wouldn't expect them to be as wasteful either. So hopefully our sloppiness is out of our system.

Brendan will have learned from this and the players will hopefully be fired up enough to right the wrong. Get Griff up top (vital) and make their CB's move, along with them being at home backed by a vocal support drawing them further up the park, which will allow space for Sinclair, Forrest and, Rogic, and Armstrong space to work/create.

    This happens, I predict a 1-2 win........(famous last words).

Are we far superior? We certainly weren't last night. It's all very well talking about lack of sharpness but it's not like these games have just been sprung on us, we've known they were due for months and months. If BR wanted the team sharper he should have arranged for more friendlies and had the players put more intensity into them. The lack of QUALITY signings can't be ignored either. How we could have done with wee Paddy to unlock that packed defence last night but what did we get.....Johnny Hayes. Not good enough for that level, simple as that. Ntcham looks decent but CM is our strongest area, we were in no rush for another. Another CF was needed and is now vital as is a LB. Going into our most important games of the season with 1 RB(Gamboa injured, Ralston not good enough), 1 experienced CB(Ajer did ok but has barely played), 1 LB in the whole squad, no adequate replacement for Paddy and Ciftci as our only striker(Aitchison is a good lad but has the physique of a 13 year old boy) is very nearly disgraceful, Brendan Rodgers or no. As usual we haven't built from a position of strength, worse still, we've actually gone backwards. We may yet go through but i'll be surprised.

And why no friendly last Sat? Surely there was an opportunity for a decent run out then..

Nothing to beat competitive game time tho, that's why I would have rather avoided them.

That said there wasn't a gulf between the skill levels of the two teams, which surprised me. The second leg will be close.

    From Etims blog

"We score early over there and its in the bag.

That should be greatly helped by the rumour that Leigh Griffiths isn;t actually injured, but being saved from abuse by the manager saying he’s injured, after his suspension for tying a scarf around a Linfield goalpost."

    Need Griff to play.

I don't think you can underestimate how important playing without a striker was last night. It will be a massive difference if we have Griffiths next week, not least because Rogic won't be marked by 2 centre backs and he'll have an option rather than having to do it all himself.

Fitness played a part too. That's the toughest side we've played in a while. Our whole team will perform better next week.

Only problem is we're away from home but not conceding an away goal was crucial, and offsets that advantage.

We'll hit our stride next week and score 2 goals.

Glad such a pressurised game is away tbh, we were very frustrated last night and it really can effect the players.

We're much better away from home nowadays I feel, did we not have more goals away from home in the league last season? And more points away from home in the CL. Early goal and this is over.

Obviously performance has to be much better than what we watched last night, but this is certainly doable.

After last night's game I didn't really feel concerned about our chances of progressing. Today I kinda do. If Griffiths isn't back for the second leg then this tie could become a huge problem. Hopefully Brendan will have learned some lessons from last night and will come up with a gameplan to see us through.

I'm still hopeful as I think we can't go a other 90 without scoring especially with Griffiths on. Need Sinclair to turn up next week, he played well away to Monchengladbach last season so if he replicates that we will actually threaten them.

Mentality is huge here. If the players bottle it (a la beer Sheva) then we are gone.

Need to work on opening them up. They will soak up the pressure and hit on the break. It was pretty successful for them last night and but for poor finishing, they could have been up by a couple.
