Hopefully the VVD saga doesn't drag on much longer and he signs for Liverpool.
    There's 7-8 million already for Roberts[/QUOTE]

Even if we did get that from the sale of VVD, I doubt very much that all of that would go towards the purchase of Roberts. Then cue a statement from PL that we tried and * like: the club won't be held to ransom over his purchase. I know transfer fees have been blown out of proportion elsewhere, and especially in the EPL this window, but I don't think paying £8-£10m is an over the top price for a player like paddy.

Time to break our transfer record PL!

If that performance tonight doesn't make PL break the bank for Roberts then it shows his pockets are his main interest and not the club. Forrest is so one-dimensional it's beyond belief. I genuinely think you could find someone of the same calibre playing junior football. I'm never usually one to slaughter players and always cheer on the players through thick and thin but he's simply not good enough for Celtic.

Aye if we don't sign paddy or a similar talent we're getting nowhere in Europe. We might scrape the groups but from then it's guaranteed 4th

It's games like tonight where it really emphasises how much we need Roberts back.

Forrest can be good but is so inconsistent. Having Roberts last season really brought out the best in Forrest for a spell last season. The competition would be good but there is no doubt that Roberts is on another level.

Each to their own mate, not here to argue. In my opinion, all he has is pace (which he doesn't use to his advantage half the time), he isn't great with the ball, movement is poor and very rarely takes a man on. There's plenty of players in lower leagues and junior that can run fast as well but not good enough to get past a decent full back..

I totally disagree with you. Forrest has weaknesses but he kept Roberts out of the team for a period of last season due to how well he was playing.

I can see where you're coming from don't get me wrong, however for me I think it was a case of over-achieving rather than showing his true ability. The whole thing about it is and I'm sure everyone agrees, Roberts oozes class, he is the sort of player we need to splash on. Do you think Forrest could put a shift in if we make the group stages? I really don't think so.

Part of this keeping Paddy out of the team is because Paddy got injured very early and was unavailable, so Brendan had no choice but to play Forrest until Roberts got back up to speed.

Yeah. Roberts never got a consistent run of games until about February on, and he was class.

Roberts is a couple of levels above Forrest.

I'm not going to be unfair and say that Forrest didn't play well in that period, he definitely did. In fact it was the best I've ever seen him in a Celtic shirt. But it wasn't as simple as him merely keeping Paddy out.

Paddy was out anyway and it made little sense to drop a form player for one who was poorly lacking match fitness and sharpness after an injury.

Yet even when Roberts was fully fit, Rodgers kept playing Forrest

Roberts was introduced back into the team slowly, with many 15-20 minutes second-half appearances. As soon as he was up to speed he was in the team and we never looked back.

I'd imagine if Roberts hadn't injured himself at the beginning of last season, Forrest would never have been in the team to begin with.

Still reckon he would have gotten a chance, despite Roberts being a better player.

Wether or not forrest was in the team because roberts was injured or not. We NEED a better option to james forrest on the right wing if we want to take it to the next level. Roberts done that.

As you kind of hint at there, I'm sick of seeing that we need the VVD money to go out and spend.

It's nonsensical. If we are honestly waiting on that it's embarrassing. Surely not however.
