He's done an amazing job but how he can't see we need another striker is beyond me.

I don't want to imagine if we don't make the champions league group's now.

Players will be sold and we will go backwards yet again! * me off doing business late and last min it can come and bite us on the * we clearly need another forward.

Be shocking to get knocked out.

Reality is that a 3rd choice striker, at our level, isn't going to be the type you'd want leading the line in the CL anyway.

3rd choice down the years has been * like Beattie, Killen, Sheridan, Rasmussen, Brozek, Bangura - Sound like a broken record, but long gone are the days of Sutton, Hartson and Larsson.

We had some top performances last season without a recognised striker, but of course after a performance like tonight it's going to be highlighted.

Youth is the answer, we should be developing boys like Aitchison into 3rd choice strikers.

    Samaras, Hooper and Stokes.

    McDonald, Vennegoor and Samaras.

Surely we can get someone decent.

Thought his tactics were rigid and predictable tonight..

    Albeit with limited options.

Can I ask what people are wanting us to do with this 3rd centre forward when Griffiths and Dembele are fit for 3 months straight?

The McDonald/JVOH/Samaras and Sutton/Larsson/Hartson argument isn't relevant. We don't play 2 up front anymore.

We didn't either a lot of time with Lennn and Delia and we still had cover.

What we going to do if both Griffiths and Dembele both get horrifically injured during the season? Just play Rogic upfront or give Toure a crack at it?

You can't predict these sort of situations. If Tierney gets injured tomorrow what do we do ? Lustig ? We can't have 3 players for every position.

If we can't get Roberts we should be signing an inside right who can be an emergency striker.

Should have started Hayes and Forrest with Sinclair up top. We were like a man down tonight in that system.

It's a dangerous game though particularly if someone swoops in on Deadline day and buys Dembele.

I'm sure we could get "someone decent", but as Rodgers has said he only wants players of real quality.

A fair percentage on this forum alone will argue that 1-in-2 Griffiths isn't even good enough for UCL football, never mind signing some 3rd choice striker.

Decent isn't good enough for the UCL, and whilst we are currently blessed with our best striking options in donkeys, I feel the need to go out and get somecunt to sit on the bench for 11 months rather overstated.

For the group stages Griffthis might not be good be enough but we need to get there first. I think we would have done better tonight if we played with a decent enough striker.

Johhny Hayes isn't exactly a player of real quality in my opinion. If they want real quality they should shell out for Roberts instead if f sitting on money and hoping we have enough to get by.

Fail to see how people can hold that opinion. When given the chance, he scores at every level he play's at, plain and simple..

Both them were injured together on two occasions last season and we had to make do with Roberts & Sinclair up top. Very clear we need 3 players for that position

I think we'd all like a 3rd striker, but getting someone 'decent' would be tricky. No decent striker would be happy coming in knowing he'd be 3rd choice in a system that only plays 1, and if he was good enough to push Griffiths down to 3rd then I think he'd then want to move on anyway, leaving us with 2 again.

Another Samaras would be ideal though. A guy who can play as well up top as he can in a wide/inside forward role. Solves the 'being 3rd choice' problem if he knows he could also maybe get game time out wide.

Regarding Hayes, case in point mate.

He's a back up/bench player, that's the market we operate in for squad players, and he's an expensive one at that.

Hasn't done it in the UCL proper yet, to be fair.

It's a tough gig to find a striker better than Griff though in our market, he's an exceptional striker in the back up role he currently has.

I want Paddy back......end of! I can't believe we haven't made this happen. The club is too greedy. Every time we have the opportunity to push on and go for all out domination it feels like we get reined back in. Just when everything feels right. We spend millions on a player no one has ever heard of albeit he might be decent but hold out on a talent who we know is proven skilled, heart and soul celtic minded.
