To the guys saying that Caulker is slow, well that's simply lies. I don't know if you're clueless or don't know the player, but at least get it right if you're going to completely slaughter him. His main strength is his pace. He was one of the quickest defenders in the EPL, and was brilliant in the season he had under Rodgers. So much so Tottenham wanted him back. The only reason he was sold is because he was out boozing and Daniel Levy warned him to sort it out because he was going to waste his career. They eventually fell out, but plenty clubs wanted him and Malky MCKay took him to Cardiff for fortunes after Brendan raving about him. He was on a list of potentials at Liverpool and supposedly that's where Klopp got the name from when he needed cover last year. Bottom line is he's fecked up big time. At Tottenham he was getting mentioned in the same breath as Ledley King and Sol Campbell. He was capped by England at around 21, like I said though after he fell out with Levy, who is hard to get on with to be fair, it went * up. He was always in the boozer, scrapping, just really immature stuff. Scotland were desperate for him - half his family are Scottish, and they're Tims for those that are Interested. Anyway I think he'd be perfect, - he's super quick, very aggressive, and is a real leader. That's the sort we need. We play a high line, Brown is playing that no 4 position, and picking it up from the defence and starting play. We don't need an Effe Ambrose trying to take on the whole team.

 

Just been watching the Sydney Arsenal friendly and they have a young RW on the pitch called Nelson. Kid is * awesome. Fast, tricky, exciting. Should be looking at him

 

I would take Caulker, i think he'd do a job here and would maybe give sviatchenko some motivation to improve his game.

 

Didn't realise Reiss had played this game saw him last year and he seemed decent then

 

I've just never rated him, noticed how bad he is almost every time i've seen him. I probably slagged him before we were even linked as well when QPR signed him I bet I was slagging him on here and when Southampton loaned him and then when Liverpool loaned him he's a poor player who for some reason has been over rated. Reminds me the way Sandro that played in midfield for Spurs used to be hyped up despite looking dross any time I watched him.

Is this all common knowledge, or do you know him or people close to him personally? I hope he does sign and Brendan gets him performing at the highest level again.

 

Brentford are set to sign St Étienne striker Neal Maupay for a fee worth in the region of £1.8m.

Id be taking a punt at him for that money. Only 20 years old and done decent on loan at brest last year.

 

My mate's a big Tottenham fan and I remember him coming through after Sol Campbell left for Arsenal and Ledley King couldn't train because of his knee/ended up retiring. So Caulker was a big deal because he was local and similar to them, especially physically and with his pace. I think he was a bit of a rogue though and Daniel Levy found out and sent him on loan. He went to Swansea and was brilliant, he did get huckled by the cops though for fannying about, and he was still boozing when he went back to Spurs. Loads of teams wanted him though, - he ended up at Cardiff as we know, they had just been taken over by that group from the Far East and were minted. Like I said, Rodgers loved him, and told Malky McKay about him. Brendan moved to Liverpool the same year and was linked with Caulker, Joe Allan and Ashley Williams. I honestly think it was a matter of not wanting to take all his ex players with him, he did sign Allan. I just feel under different circumstances Steven Caulker could be out of our reach. He could be at a big club doing well. For me getting him on a free is a no brainer.

 

Sorry, - the Scottish thing I know from years ago. I think it was his old dear that moved to London, and his Grandparents are still here in Edinburgh. Anyway I remember talking to my mate saying he was the sort of centre half I love, old school, and him saying there was a loose connection there. Anyway he remembers something from an interview/programme or whatever and Caulker talking about some of his Scottish family being obsessed with football and mentioning Celtic and Hibs. My mate's from Connemara but lives and works in Tottenham. He knows all about Celtic though. I remember all this from way before the period when Scotland were trying to get him to Switch allegiance.

 

We need better quality to replace Roberts, in regards to Vlasic . Would take Majer though. Cheap, development CAM,
