We should be breaking the bank on the back of last seasons CL campaign to get him back and give us a much better shot at qualification this season, not waiting to see if we qualify again. Get fed up hearing the same * every year to be honest, thought it was gonna be a lot different under Rodgers.

I understand how you feel, im just not expecting any big deals or transfers untill after we make the groups, im confident and imagine Brendan is too that the current squad is good enough to make it past qaulifiers. Any signings for good money will be made to improve our squad in the groups.

And I'd say in the one season so far rogers has steared the ship on course, the playing staff are pretty much the same as during Ronnie's two seasons, a mediocre team turned record breakers and invincibles rogers has changed everything in one season. So what if we don't * money left and right, we aren't able to compete with the silly money down south and shouldn't try to very often if ever really. For paddy I hope an exception is made, wouldn't hurt us much now to * money on Roberts but would hurt us much less once the. Money for group stages is a certainty.

We've just spent £5-7m on a single player before our first game. Rodgers has said he's targeting players who are left out of their teams main squad in the PL. That's players like Roberts and Musonda. Maybe another CB to come in soon because of Boyata's injury. "Thought it was going to be different" Aye mate nothings changed.

Knew about us spending money on the city boy, things have changed at the club since rogers took over clearly pretty much the same players but a different team in one season. I think the squad as it is now with the city kid is good enough to reach the groups. Once we are guaranteed group stage money if Roberts is available and willing I would hope that then there would be no excuse good enough not to break our transfer record on paddy unless some EPL side doubles our offer.

I expect us to spend money again this season and the next improving the squad and replacing some players leaving. I don't think we will be so tight fisted with rogers, when was the last time we gave a manager a four year contract? The board are confident rogers is the manager to lead us in Europe and I expect they will will back him one hundred percent barring another team spunking silly millions on someone we were talking to.

Rodgers has spent 4 or 7m on one young prospect. That in itself shows things have changed. Normally we spend 500k on a bunch of duds.

Also he's spent a few million on the pitch.

He'll be after Roberts but he's said all along for 18 months that he'll give city a shot before deciding.

Well we'll probably never actually know the real figure but I agree that we're spending money on a player that is likely not to be a dud, although Kouassi is looking a bit touch and go just now.

I just think we're spending money on a prospect and the sound bites coming out of the club and from Rodgers is that we will do our business once we know whether or not we will be in the CL much like every other year, it seems like a silly risk to take. I get that the market will be easier to navigate once English teams have sorted their squads, but for me we should be doing our business early doors, not waiting on the English market to sort itself out and really going for CL qualification. I wouldn't be particularly confident against any semi-decent team in the play-off round with our centre backs or Forest as our main right winger.

Plus I'm an impatient * and this is the most excited I've been about a transfer window ever and so far what Rodgers is saying is ruining this moment for me :56:

Btw, if this guy gets announced alongside Roberts I'll take every word of it back.

The strategy worked though he got dembele and Sinclair waiting it out and got gamboa for a million which is actually quite a decent price when you see what fringe players are going for down south

Man City welcomed back all their first team players today ahead of their pre season, no sign of Paddy at all.

    Interesting :brendy:

Yeah but I understood that strategy 100% last year, he was just in the door and was looking to bring in players he knew and trusted to make an immediate impact, even though that didn't quite work when you look at De Vries, although it did seem to give Gordon a bit of a kick up the *. However, he's been in the job a year now, he knows exactly what we are missing and what we need and without filling those holes as soon as possible we're running the risk of missing out on the CL altogether and giving the board the perfect excuse to not spend any more money.

I know there are a million variables to factor in, I know this isn't Football Manager, but the fact that Rodgers is saying himself he wants to wait is what disappoints me at the moment. Like I said, one signing and that could all change and I'm pretty impatient.

Maybe it's wait for the right player that will improve us the market is getting harder every year for a club like celtic huge clubs high ambition small country whilst all the other big countries are firing out plenty of money to other clubs maybe every other players he's looked at in other league just won't improve us
