French U-21, Man City player, rated highly, 2 years in Serie A, raw attributes of a modern, bull of a midfielder... £4m wouldn't be surprising.

Brendan Rogers says he is close to sealing another new signing, with Manchester City’s young French midfielder Olivier Ntcham believed to be in his sights.

Speaking after Celtic’s 9-0 demolition of Shamrock Rovers in a pre-season friendly in Dublin, Rodgers was coy about the identity of the signing target.

“The player is in going for a medical, all is going very well at the moment,” the Celtic manager said. “Hopefully that should be announced in the next...” he went on, allowing the sentence to tail off.

Ntcham, 21, is a French under-21 international who has spent the last two seasons on loan with Genoa.

Not a myth at all, he takes a lot longer to get upto full fitness, like last season it was 3 months then he got injured. End of the season he came back and was blown out his * after 30mins.

You notice his performance level drops majorly when he tires, but with a good pre-season should be in great shape for start of the season.

Not impressed if im honest with the stats snd videos getting passed around although could come here and be excellent for us i just think the no10 would best be for Rogic or Armstrong maybe this guy and Kouassi in midfield may offer us a whole new dimension that Rodgers can see time will tell i hope he is a success and proves me and others wrong

I think competition for midfield I exactly what we need! Rogic armstrong McGregor and now ntcham (if he signs) can play cam and brown eboueu Armstrong ntcham mcgregor for cm... So 6 players for 3 positions I think is perfect!

Hoping we sell.bitton so not counting him

I stated earlier that I know nothing about this guy. But I have to say I have a feeling he is going to be a success here. Looks like a * machine.

A midfield of Broony, Ntcham, Armstrong, Sinclair and hopefully Paddy.

    Speed, skill and strength

Looking good but still a wee bit wary, as is somewhat of an unknown quantity... Here's hoping

We reported yesterday that Genoa had just one day to decide whether to make Olivier Ntcham’s two-year loan move from Manchester City permanent.

The Italian club had an option to buy Ntcham for €3 million (£2.6 million), with City having a structured buy-back clause included, which would allow them to sign Ntcham back for €7 million after one year, €9 million after two years, and €11 million after three years.

According to Il Secolo XIX, Genoa have decided not to use their option to buy Ntcham after he failed to consistently perform over his two years at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Players that say they won't come until we make the groups need to be told they to * off.

I want players here who will help and fight to get there. Not * who wanna take all the glory without the hard work of achieving qualification

This is probably the ideal type of signing. He has been developed at an English club, so Scottish football should suit him. But, he's also got that experience of playing abroad, which should hopefully have helped him develop technically. Being in Italy you would hope has had a big influence on the defensive aspect of the game as well.

This buying youth players from teams like Man City & Chelsea should also be decent for us. They seem to bring in the best guys from around Europe, develop them, loan them out, then decide they won't get a game because they've just spent £50m on someone. We should be able to take advantage of this by simply offering them first dibs on buying the player back if he develops into someone good enough to break into their first team.

    Could be anyone really.

That player might be closer to end of window.

I think we still need a new striker also someone who knows they are just back up to be going into a 60 game season with 2 strikers is a massive gamble

100% agree with this. The other thing about Chelsea and Man City is that they buy all the good talent from around the world at like 15 or 16 and develop them in their training academies. Loan them out to teams to develop them further and get them first team experience. if they do well, they bring them back in, get them to sign a new contract and you never hear of them again because they rot on the bench/reserves. We need to take advantage of that option when it comes to 18 and 19 year old talents from these clubs more often.
