I fully agree. Oasis had lost it for long enough and dragged it out too. The songs Liam offered to Oasis were really bad. Quality lyrics such as

"You live for your toys, even though they make noise
Have you ever played with plastercine
    Or even tried a trampoline
    Thank you for your smile
You make it all worthwhile to us"

Liam trying to soldier on is a bit like the Stone Roses to me. Trying too hard to cling on to the past. They've both had their time, but it's gone now. The first two songs from Liam are poor. I find the lyrics cringeworthy just like The Stone Roses new tracks.

Liam just is carrying on being everything that was wrong with Oasis in the last few years.

One is just no good without the other, although Noel's stuff is much better. Liam was never the brains or talent of Oasis, he was the sound and the image. This interview is * brilliant though. He should just go around doing nights of telling stories and singing songs.

There's plenty of good bands out there that deserve support. Sadly people only buy what makes playlists and gets exposure.

The reason why rock n'roll is dying is because people who were once relevant and part of something genuinely generation-defining are still dragging people around on their coat tails and releasing forgettable, mediocre * in a desperate attempt to stay important.

Oasis were the right band, at the right time. But the Britpop generation are now parents with steady jobs and mortgages. Oasis never had the talent or the longevity to stay the course, and this can be evidenced by their patchy albums that followed in the wake of What's The Story prior to their ultimate demise, and indeed, by Noel and Liam's solo careers, the gigs of which rely on Oasis' music to satisfy fans who want to hark back to those halcyon days.

I actually think it's decent. Didn't think he was capable of writing a song like that.

The song is clearly about a man who has lost his whistling key ring, but he can no longer whistle.

It's one of those songs you skip on an album to get to the better songs. I wanted to like it but it's bland, I love Songbird so I am a fan of the slower paced songs but this is bland even the words are quite bland.

Funny, I always thought Liam made some Oasis songs his own. Should you listen to demo version sung by Noel - Some Might Say, She's Electric for example - his wee weedy voice doesn't do the melodies justice. Put Liam on it and it's a different track. They become classics. Noel missed Liam on some of his solo album tracks. Stranded on the Wrong Beach & Ballad of the Almighty would have been superior with Liam singing.

Liam was never a lyricist or melody maker. He talks relentlessly about the soul, as if that is something deep and profound. His lyrics are just awful, tbf. Little James is a perfect example, * awful. What was Noel thinking dropping Let's All Make Believe and Cigarettes in * from Standing on the Shoulder of Giants for Little James? Apparently he was addicted to diazapam at this point coming off coke, which would explain a lot. I think Liam has recognised his limitations and brought in a producer to help him with his frailties but you can only do so much. I think Wall of Glass and Chinatown or solid tunes without being amazing.
