Thinking of the Patrick Roberts situation, I have had this thought for many a year that certain players that have worn the hoops were born to play for Celtic. I'm not talking about the Lions, Tommy or Paul McStay etc. We all know their loyalties were always with us. I'm talking about guys who joined from other clubs or came through our ranks and then, for whatever reason decided to move on and it never really worked out for them elsewhere.

My main example is DiCanio. We got a season out of him before he decided to take the bunnet on, and leave for West Ham.

To this day I am amazed that he left. He had it all at Celtic and was worshipped by most as a * when he was here.

He did well at West Ham, but I always felt if he had stayed with us he would have become a legend like Henrik.

Is money more important, than playing for a club that allows you to express yourself and develop your skills, as well as being adored by the fans?

I hope Paddy doesn't drift off and become another journeyman. Looking back when he's older and saying what if.

Anybody got any other names that fit this opinion?

I know where your coming from. I would say Ramon Vega too. Not sure the reasons why he left, if it was down to the biscuit tin piece again, but he proved his worth when he was with us.

Still one of the best I've seen in the hoops ,some of the things he could do on the ball left me amazed ,neil Lennon also born to play for us ,his positional sense and link up play was top notch , No wonder Mon wanted him badly.

If we are talking about players who fell off after they left then surely McGeady should be in there?

Going even further back Charlie Nicholas should never have left when he did.

Bad timing and bad choice. If he had to go he should have joined Liverpool.

Done well at Arsenal but never really reached his full potentail, for me.

What a waste. Guy really went overboard and believed his own press.

Gary Hopper was never going to be a legend but he left at the wrong time for the wrong club for the wrong reasons.

A level down but Islam Feruz had a shocker moving to chelsea when he did.
