When does it become fashionably acceptable?
Don't want to be too soon or indeed too late, tend to look a bit silly either way.

Trying to keep up with the same number of dimwits like yourself that PM Melvin on deadline and give it all "Melvin PM'd me can't say who it is but it's amazing" every * transfer window and look like idiots. Generally the best targets get brought in early, last years late buys were DDV and Gamboa. Eating up all this blue chip signing pish, I'll believe we make a blue chip signing when we actually make one. With BR saying he wants to get players in early with the qualifiers coming up this hasn't started well. I spoke out at the time saying DDV and Gamboa weren't good enough when they signed and I'm saying now Hayes isn't of the quality we need.

Just don't be moaning like you all do when there's no blue chip signing or new winger.

The real dimwit is the person that watches this happen nearly every year and is expecting it to be different at every new window. Wasn't Rogers supposed to have a "war chest" last year?

Obviously not but a lot of * people on here go nuts on deadline day when we haven't signed anyone at all and another "war chest" and another window of "big signings" pass us by. Always defending the board at the start of the window and condemning them at the end. It took Sevco to beat us before they invested in BR after fobbing us of with Deila who was marketed as "unconventional" which really meant the board wanted a cheap option. All the transfer money we've taken over the past few years and add the champions league money last year just how much of that has been really re-invested? A new standing area so that they can actually fit more people into the stadium and make more money, great!

My point is every year everyone seems to think it's different from the last window and it's not, I don't know if it's wishful thinking or plain delusion for most people. It'll be the same at the end of this window, I really hope it isn't.

How about our club actually invests in a European squad instead of Hayes, DDV and Gamboa?

It feels different though. The board spent big on Brendan. The last time we done that on a manager we spent big on signings. I fully believe we will make a big signing this year.

The problem we have with big signings is champions league. Once qualified they'll come. Without it, we struggle.

The club will have been enquiring about players pretty much constantly. Brendan will have identified transfer targets a while ago. The club always go about transfer business as quietly as possible. Helps keep the fee lower most of the time.

    Who's to say we aren't?

I'm yet to receive that PM from Mevin, so I refuse to believe we aren't.

    Patience, grasshopper.

This isn't always the case, sometimes the board have held back until we qualify. We need more quality to ensure qualification and the better we do the less rounds we have to go through in the future. One qualifying round is easier than three. I hope I'm wrong and there are some quality players brought in, I'm just not getting my hopes up.

the guy got married less than two weeks ago. * sake, give him a few days to enjoy it

the celtic way, a new hybrid pitch, money being put towards improving training facilities, some money possibly being held back for the stadium site development plans. ok, yes, some of this is with an interest in generating further income but these are also the kind of things that will help attract higher profile signings in the long term

were sinclair and dembele not european level signings? we also spent around 3m on kouassi, which for a relatively unknown and untested 19 year old represents a pretty big statement of intent and signal of faith in the manager

This isn't true. For 3 years in a row we lost our best player to Southampton (and several other key players besides); last year we kept all our key players, the board spent big on a "blue chip" manager and backed him with several quality signings. I see no reason to believe they won't back him again.

The Hayes signing is not the same as, say, Pukki's. We went straight out and got him as soon as the window opened and it seems to have been planned for some time: this means he was one of Brendan's top targets, not some guy like Pukki further down the list when Lawwell fails to get Brendan's first, second and third choices. I have no doubt Brendan really wanted Hayes, knows what he is doing and together with the board is also pursuing some more exciting targets that take more time to get over the line.

For me the bottom line is this : I trust Brendan. I'll leave the team tactics & selections to him & all I have to do is sit there & cream my pants when he gets it all so right.

Should just sack Rodgers now, two weeks in to the transfer window and only signed one player :55:if only we had Pedro Caixinha and we would have signed 10 already :31: Rodgers out
